Cleaning The Egr And Other Things

Recommended Posts

OK I pulled my egr valve off today to clean it and hopefully remedy the hesitation problem. Have not driven it enough to know yet if it did any good.

One question I have is the EGR valve is in the normally closed position and I assume if the carbon builds up bad enough it will either hold it open or make it stick shut. Is this correct?

If it is not shutting off completely is this bad? I cleaned mine but can still blow through it a little bit with it closed.

I hate to replace it because it is quite expensive and am not sure if there is anything really wrong with it.

Any thoughts?
