jubass11
I have a 99 RX 300 and have check engine light on. Im getting code PO330, which is a knock sensor code. The car has drivability issues, inconsistant shifting, poor gas mileage, pinging, ect. Ive been told, and read on here, that if the knock sensor is not working properly, the car will put itself in "safe mode" and that would cause those drivability issues. Im convinced that one or both knock sensors are bad, but as I call around I get different answers from each shop. Some say the knock sensor wouldnt cause those problems, others say it would. Most say, just because the PO330 code comes up, it doesnt mean that there is a bad knock sensor. I would like to do this myself, but not sure how difficult it is. Ive read that the wiring harness needs to be replaced with the new sensor. Does anyone have any more information about this problem? Thanks in advance.
