Gearbox Shock After Repair '97 Model

Hi All,

I had oil leaks between the engine and the gearbox so had this fixed at a garage.

Now going from Park to Drive is quite a shock. I've also notived that when the

engine is cold it goes to very high rpm's (1500+) at start which could be the cause.

Is there anyway of changing the automatic choke to lower the rpm at start?

Or could this be some other cause perhaps?
