Installation Of Door Speakers And Reciever

Recommended Posts

I plan on purchasing an alpine cda-9856 single din receiver, however upon talking to the specialists at car toys and a couple other stores, they told me I may need an amp rewire, which will cost me an extra 40 bucks. Some have told me that I could install this deck myself unless I needed an amp rewire (that sounds a little too complex for me). Has anyone attempted to uninstall the stock receiver (lexus premium system) and successfully installed a single din deck similar to the one I'm talking about? Also, can anyone tell what exactly an amp rewire is? Also, anyone who has a 99 rx300 with installed after market speakers, how did you go about dealing with the installation? (did you buy an adapter?)

I know that in the LS400 and ES300 the factory amp is separate from the head unit. In these cars it is located underneath the passenger seat. I'm guessing the RX300 has a separate factory amp as well. An amp rewire probably refers to extending the speaker wiring harness from the factory amp to the location of the head unit. In my LS400 I soldered together my own wiring harness that went from beneath the passenger seat up to my new head unit. Fair bit of work, but definitely worth it.
