"vsc" And "check" Malfunction Lights Are On--2003

Hi everyone, i was hoping someone can help me. Dont know much bout cars---figures...im a female. haha Anyway, my VSC and "check" Malfunction Lights both came on and im worried. Is the car safe to drive? Can i take it to a regular car repair shop or must it be taken to the dealership??

I read the manuel, but it presented no help.
