I rebuilt my starter with the starter rebuild kit last october because i was having slight starting issues. Ticking, not correctly turning over. Everything seemed to be working good, but now sometimes it will turn over for 25 to 30 seconds before it finally starts. It used to be one or two cranks of the engine and i would be golden.

Any ideas? The car turns over fine, has plenty of power, new battery (october), and sometimes it will catch for a half second, then continue turning over.

Thanks for your help!

Save yourself some money and have it professionally diagnosed. It's probably going to cost you more to buy a fuel pressure gauge than it would to have it diagnosed.

SOme sort of idle valve sticks when the car is cold which may cause this - try giving it a little gas while cranking. If this is the problem, engine will die when you let off the gas. It only takes a couple of minutes for the engine to warm up where it will keep running. Had this problem on mine for a couple of years - happens intermittently.... there is a fix on this site somewhere.....
