greggr Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Picked up my LS 460 on 12/31/2006. Love the car. Tires that came with the car are Bridgestone Turanza EL42's. Ride has been good except for slipping while braking in the rain. Did a lot of research on Tire Rack, Consumer Reports and Car and Driver. These Bridgestones are very poorly rated tires. Had Discount Tire place Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on car. They put in 33 PSI in each tire as recommended by Lexus (on the door jam). Original Turanza's had 47 PSI. Driving home it was like driving with the emergency brake on. I even double checked that the break wasn't on. The roll resistence increased significantly. I had the new tires swapped out and Bridgestones put back on the same afternoon. Am I crazy. What PSI should the tires be set at? I'll be asking Lexus service how they decide on tire pressure. I wanted to love the Michelin's. Now I am confused and frustrated. Greggr
SW03ES Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Well the Pilot Sport's are a stiff, sporty tire not a touring tire like the Bridgestones, I think thats the difference you're seeing.
