Clanky Noise Coming From Front Right Wheel

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone

My Dad currently owns a 2000 ES300 and a couple months ago his front right wheel hit a curb. Alignment and everything seem fine however there is a distinct *clanky* noise coming from the suspension whenever he runs over a bump or anything similar. It usually happens when the car is cold. What can it be?

I'm currently thinking it's the strut mount.

Anyone have any ideas?

hi and welcome to LOC.

check and make sure the 3 strut mount bolts and particularly the big center bolt is tightened to spec. i had a clanking metal noise that developed from the front right wheel area once (audible whenever going over bumps) and came to find out that center bolt needed re-tightening.

so start with that.
