Micah Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 can the 96 model 4 speed auto transmission be swapped with the newer 5 speed transmission? I know it can be done on fords, but curious about Lexus. It is a v8 4.0. I have some hard shifting problems and was concerned about it. If I have to replace it, I would rather upgrade it if possible.
jzz30 Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 im sure it could but lots of wiring would be needed and also the trans computer would probably need a changing. so in short, it would probably be cheaper to buy a 98
