Changing The Oil And Getting To The Drain Plug?

Is there a trick to performing an oil change on the Lexus SC400 (1992)? From what I can tell, you need to remove the undercarriage panel to access the drain plug--is that the only way to get to it??? If so, it seems like a design "overkill" as I've experienced with my BMW 750iL and I always thought the Japanese were a little more efficient in their designs compared to the Germans??

You thought wrong. My panels are removed but they should be replaced. Thing is, they are so torn up, I want new ones. There probably is a way to get at the drain plug - but I don't know it. I don't think the quick change guys remove the panel. They may just loosen 1 side and bend it out of the way. Not sure though. Have to reference the manuals.
