newflamenco
I skipped the Lo Jack ($695.00) when we purchased our GS300. We just received a letter from the dealer stating that they would not deactivate the system and let us keep it for $300. This is just a basic Lo Jack Recovery System... no Early Warning. Can someone comment on this? We're thinking of going for it... but it does not make sense that they are willing to give us $395 discount. Thanks. RomyCHA
Well at my dealership, Lojack only costs us $360. That is cost, not what we charge the customer. So I am guessing that you did some pretty good negotiating when you bought yours, and they are probably just wanting to get what they put into it back. Honestly though... I don't like Lojack. Couple reasons. First, is a personal thing. If my car was stolen, I wouldn't want it back. I don't care if its stolen for 2 hours or 2 weeks. My Integra was stolen back in the day, and I just figured it's an opportunity for a new vehicle. And the actual Lojack system is pretty lame. Everyone thinks it is a GPS Navigational system. It's not. It's a little black box inside a cops car, that has a compass, and an arrow, and it's not that accurate till you are within a couple miles of the car. It just points in the direction of where the vehicle is, and sometimes the arrow will jump from point left, to point right.. And there is a little status bar that shows how close you are getting. When our dealership signed up for Lojack they took us out on a trial run, of how it works. So what I am telling you, is what I know, not what I heard. Third, if you do get Early Warning System, by the time you get to your car, pretty much there is going to be some damage done, and you still have to pay your insurance deductable. There is something else that I think is much more better than Lojack: GAP Insurance.
newflamenco
Thank you so much for the reply. Based on the replies we received, we decided to skip it. :)
newflamenco
One more question...Is it true that once the system is deactivated, it cannot be reactivated again. I'm a software engineer and I just don't understand why a system would be designed like that. It looks like a waste... to me.
