jlim0930
I am thinking of getting a 2006 GS300 with just minor optional addons. I been reading this forum since last night and looks like either people really like it or dislike the car. i am wondering about what the major dislikes are... and also would like to know how much off msrp you got the car for...either in dollars or percent.. this will be my 3rd lexus and for some reason everytime i get one i feel like i paid too much and just wanted to get an ideal of how much others are paying Please let me know.. my wife is dying to have this car.. also does the bluetooth come standard ? what about mp3 cd player or a ipod link ? RomyCHA
I can't give you any advise on likes and dislikes since I drive a 98, but I do work at a Toyota dealership and can tell you a little about buying a car. First, Toyota's and Lexus's don't have the kind of markup that American vehicles have. The GS is a fairly expensive vehicel, so it will have a some markup. Second, don't go to Edmunds.com, or any other sites like that, that show you what the invoice is and what not. Those sites are wrong. I have people come to me all the time showing me an invoice they got off the internet and its usually like $1500-$2000 below what my actual invoice is. Bottom line is, if a website tells you can buy a vehicle for so much, but it from that website, and if that website doesn't give you an option, then don't expect to pay that price. There is a lot more I can tell you about this, but I'm sure you don't care.... Third, be reasonable. Everyone always wants the best deal they can get when buying a car. That is a given. Don't march in there with a firm hand and say you want $5000 knocked off the price, or no deal. Understand that the dealership is trying to make money also, and isn't in the business of selling cars cheaper for what they bought it for. At my dealership, of course we are going to try and make some money (just like everywhere else), if a customer comes in and they already have a bad attitude and start demanding stuff from the get go, we send them on their way. I see you are in Plano. Is that Plano, TX? If so, I live in San Antonio, and I know a few guys that work at the Lexus dealership here. If you have no luck up there, let me know, and I'll hook you up with someone here.
