Cd Player Not Working In '99 Gs400

Hey guys, a CD was put in my friend's gs400 upside down and now the player won't play any CDs at all. I noticed that after the CD in question was taken out it had circular scratch marks on the label side. Maybe the lens got to close somehow and scratched the label causing the lens to no longer function? This is my guess anyways. Is there any chance of self repair? Can I order a new player and install myself or is this a dealer only job?

Was it a CD player, or CD changer? Anyhow, I don't think it can be a self repair unless you replace (not fix) the damaged unit.

When the CD came out, and there were scratches on it, was it only scratches, or did some mass come off of it? Some shavings could possible be obstructing the laser...

Maybe get some canned-air and blow it in there.

It's a CD changer. I'm wondering if I could find a unit on ebay or something and replace it myself.
