CanadaCraig
Hi Guys!! :) I'm confused. Is the 'strut CUSHION' a different part than the 'strut BUMPER'? Also... Apparently the lower ball joints on my LS were replaced. [still waiting to get my car back] What do lower ball joints DO - exactly? Thanks, Craig!! :)
91LS400vgb
The upper and lower ball joints allow the spindle to rotate when steered, and move vertically to absorb road bumps at the same time. The vertical movement is caused by either jounce (e.g. hitting a bump in which case the control arm goes up) or rebound (e.g. falling in a pothole in which case the control arm goes down). The lower ball joint is the one that gets most of the abuse as it bears the weight of the vehicle.
Shadow
Hi Guys!! :) I'm confused. Is the 'strut CUSHION' a different part than the 'strut BUMPER'? Thanks, Craig!! :) Strut cushion attaches to the end of strut rod, whereas strut bumper attaches to the end of the shock absorber to prevent shock from bottoming out.
