jzz30
honestly if your trying to save like 3-4 bucks cheaping out on 87 octane buy a different car!!!!!!!!!!! too many people ask the same question!!! the answer is NO!!
TexasComputerMan
I have a 1992 SC400 and my owner's manual says to use 91 octane. Here in N. Texas, most gas stations sell 93 octane. I have a habit of always filling up when my tank is 1/2 empty/full. Just a habit I developed years ago. Any way, I alternate putting in 93 octane or 89 octane. Since this is a blend, I am always running 91 octane. I have been doing this for a year and it is working well.
jzz30
by theory its actually better to use higher octane fuel with older cars becasue of the carbon build up on the pistons and combustion chamber.
