Gas Pedal Lockup

Hi,

The accelerator pedal in my 2001 RX300 often locks up when I stop at a traffic light or a stop sign. I have to press very hard on it, or sometimes stomp on it, to get the car going again. This is kind of unsafe because the car could spin out of control. Once the car is in motion, the gas peadal is back to normal. The car drives well with no warning or any other symptom. If someone has experienced this problem before, would you give me some suggestion on where I should be looking at?

Thanks,

We had the same problem with ford explorers in the U.K. turned out the fuel was attacking the throttle bodies. A few people were killed because the throttle had stuck open (imagine a 4litre car at full throttle in a small town). We were lucky , like your RX it would stick closed,it needed a hefty stamp to get going again. They recalled them all, lolol.

That was the first and only ford we have ever owned it spent more time being fixed than we drove it.

All the best, and be carefull.
