First - thanks to steviej for so good info at tranny

However, I filled 3 Qt. only

in "cold" level was higher then it has to be and about in between "cold" and "hot" marks

then I run for about 15 - 20mph and 60 mph and checked again.

The level was right in "hot" marks zone.

Why just 3Qt? Is it normal?

I waited above 1 hour for drain to stop dripping.

thanks.

Most pans only hold a couple quarts (They're very shallow) & all the valve body & other parts stay submerged all the time, so there's another couple of quarts.

You don't drain half the fluid in the system by taking the bolt off a pan. Also, if the car is not level, you don't get a complete drain.

Quick review

Warm vehicle driving around

Park & shift into every gear position & back to park

Chekc A/T level again the hot marks.

Yep normal. Re-check the fluid level again after driving 20 - 30 minutes around town or 20 - 30 minutes of mixed highway and city driving. That's what it takes to bring the transmission fluid temperature up to near 155 degrees F or slightly above.

Just before pulling the dipstick, with the engine idling and the car stopped, slowly shift through all gear ranges ending in Park. It's possible the fluid level now may be considerably OVER the Hot mark. This means your transmission is actually overfilled.

Many do-it-yourselfers overfill because they fail to check the fluid level when it's near scalding Hot. The fluid expands as it warms from room temperature to its usual Hot operating temperature of approximately 155 degrees F or slightly above.

thank you for answers.

yes, I lifted from of the car to get under and drain ATF and waited for above 1 hour until drippings stoped.

After driving HOT marks level was OK. But in "cold" level is above cold marks.

I'll re check level again tonight after my commute.

I run check after 1 hour drive and level was right at lower hot mark.

I checked 5 times after 3 min after stop.

But, the cold level higher then higher cold mark anyway.

So, I think I'll not add any more ATF for a while.

I'll recheck in a week again.

thanks for all your answers.
