TurboGS300
ball joints inexpensive fix? ← Probably not, if you can't do it yourself. Just sell the car yourself and knock off a grand for all the stuff that needs to be done. <_<
GuyTelefunken
A little play in your ball joints (ha, ha) is nothing to worry about if it is not major. The lowers are about $65/side and you "should" have a wheel alignment after they are replaced. They do require two special ball joint seperators to replace. The old fashioned "pickle fork" has no place here. If you don't have unusual edge wear on the front tires, they should still be ok for a bit. Since you noted having four bent rims (interesting how that happened) you might have some interesting wear because of that anyway. Calipers are easy to swap out (the Carquest has them remanufactured for cheap). All the other things are simple.
droppedlexus
yeah but now my buyer will look at this list and think, "I better run" although after speaking with the lexus mechanic he stated that this is a known problem with the GS400 "BALL JOINTS"

I know on my first gen I had to replace the control arm for ball joints, as they told me that was the only way to do it. <_<
juniortai
drive belt... open your hood, and you'll find only one belt running like 7 pulleys on your motor. that's the drive belt. recently had to replace mine... they're no more than $50. about 10 minutes to change or less.
