Inner Tie Rod On Gs300

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know how to install an inner tie rod on the passenger side of the GS300. I am having some vibrations in my steering wheel and when I turn the wheel to the right all the way, I get a bumping feeling in my tires. There is some play in it according to my mechaninc. Thanks.

A special tool is required to hold the end of the rack. The tool amounts to a very thin wrench. It is imperitive to hold the rack when tightening the inner tie rod. Before you start, there is a washer between the rod end and the rack that is bent over on two sides of the tie rod end. It must first be unbent/ground away before you can turn out the tie rod. The washer is replaced and bent over the flats on the tie rod end after you install the tie rod. There is a torque specification on the tie rod end but it is impossible to torque this part without a very special torque wrench. All in all, it's a P.I.A. to replace, especially if it is rusted (about 110% chance it is).
