Remote Starter

I'm considering getting a remote starter installed on my IS300. I guess my question is... is this even possible with the key being a special key and all?

it is possible as several members have them.

There are good ones and there is crap. Most likely you will have to sacrifice one of your keys so the chip is left in the car (promotes starting).

Best advice is to ask around like you did. Use the search function and not just in the IS forum as the same rules would apply to any Lexus with similar keys and a remote start.

Have it professionally done and get a guarantee/warranty.

You might want to call a few dealers and see which one they offer and who they subcontract out to to do the install, just to get some idea of what is involved.

If it is not done correctly, something electronic usually ain't gonna work after it is installed.
