Kennyr
My 91 LS400 rear brakes were making a high pitched noise driving me crazy for a long period of time last summer. After replacing the pads and rotors with genuine parts I still had the noise. Finally I remembered a Volvo factory fix. I cut the bottom of the shims off and glued the remaining tops to the pads. This tilts the pad into the rotor at a slight angle. Like magic the noise was gone and still is gone after a year. Volvo actually sells cut shims like this for their 850 S70 line of cars.
