dryfly
My 90 LS400 developed a strange problem today. It was running fine one minute, then about 15 minutes later it would not stay running. It turns over, revs up, then dies. Must have done this a dozen times but it never would stay running. I could keep it running by giving it gas, but if I let off it just dies again. Anyone have this problem before?

maxed_out
Man at this point it could be anything. Theres a couple other threads like this. Make sure your alt is charging. Weak battery and no charge can do this. If thats ok make sure your igition is ok, plugs, wires, caps etc. Do you have spark on all 8 cylinders? Broken of frayed wire? Pinched? If thats ok consider something on the fuel side, fuel pump, fuel pressure, throttle posion sensor etc. Check some of this and post details. brian_k03
is it throwing any codes?
dryfly
Turned out to be a bad valve on the power steering pump that routes into the intake. PS fluid was getting into the intake.

Shadow
Turned out to be a bad valve on the power steering pump that routes into the intake. PS fluid was getting into the intake. ← That valve must be very leaky inorder to allow enough fluid to enter the combustion chamber to kill to engine. Great job finding the out! dryfly
Sadly, I didn't find it. The local shop did. The Lexus parts guy said he sold allot of these valves so it must be fairly common.
