camlex Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Hello, I dropped my car to my mechanic last night for him to replace Engine mounts. Now, I am feeling that I am driving a new car. I didn't believe new mount can make all the difference. FYI, I bought just rear mount without bracket. $44(He opened bracket and took old out and pressed new one in) Front Engine mount $125 Transmission mount $47 Dogbone mount i replaced it by myself last week.(Autozone 8201 for ~$36 Labor i will know tomorrow. I am assuming ~$200 (He priced me for front and rear pressed $140) Thanks,
chadmg7 Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Hey camlex, What do you notice a difference in? Do new engine mounts solve any noise issues (like the infamous clunking)? Does the car just feel tighter? I have a '97 also and am wondering if engine mounts would improve the car.
camlex Posted March 23, 2005 Author Posted March 23, 2005 Hello, After I had just stopped from a stop sign or light and began driving I used to feel a tapping noise in my steering wheel. Now when I drive, that feeling in my steering wheel is gone. I feel like I have lots more control and it feels more sturdy like a newer car. When you are changing from Park to Drive , it no longer jerks and delays. Hope this will help. Thanks,
