Shimshady
So I have this 92’ Es 300 that I’ve been using as my daily for awhile and recently it’s been having some electrical issues. A weeks ago the battery light came on, when I popped the hood to see if anything was wrong the wire on the top side of the alternator was completely burned off. After some time I eventually got the wires back into place but it hasn’t been a permanent fix and the wired have burned off to some extent a few more times. I have noticed that if I reduce the amount of electrical load in the car it’s usually fine. Now that I have time to work on it what should I be looking at first? Is this an alternator issue or a grounding issue? Or is it something either issue I’m not seeing
thomas garcia
I have similar problem. I replaced the radiator electric fan because one the fan motors (passenger side) melteed the plastic shroud and left the fan motor hanging.i replace the electric fan and alternator started makong a noise the died. I replaced the alternaor but when i reconnected the battery it blew out alternator120 amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and reconnected the battery, positive first and then i connected the the negative, the terminal melted part of the negative post and blew the alternator 120 amp fuse again. My question is it a bad ground and if so where? Could it be that a bad ground or short caused the electric fan motor to burn through plastic shroud? How do i find the bad ground or short if i can't connect the battery?
