02 Lexus rx300 water pump/timing belt replacement

Hello, I need some advice. I have an 02 Lexus RX 300 that quit working on me about a month and a half ago I replace the camshaft sensors because that’s what the code reader told me to do it still won’t turn over found out my timing belt was shredded. Had someone replace it they said that the timing kept slipping and now they’re telling me my engine is blown. Is there a way that I can check if my engine is blown or they just didn’t know what they were doing putting my timing belt on correctly at home by myself?
