ripslexi
I just bought a replacement GS400. (I was protected by my last GS 400 during a total loss wreck. Never had a single problem.) Car checked out by my personal lexus shop and got a passing grade. Doing some cleaning and installation of a gps I noticed this messy, oily, thick, slick substance under the gauge cluster when I removed the black plastic panel that cancels the area above the brake pedal. So thick it does not drip. Took out the plastic and tried to clean it with de-greaser without any success. What could this be? How do I correct it? What will clean it up? Good service history 76,000 miles K40 hidden installation (mention in case it is the cause) Thx

Take a pic! :P
ripslexi
NO. Not glue. Almost like clear Karo syrup with a tinit of amber. I mean it is everywhere under the gauges. Will stick between your fingers like syrup. In fact maybe I will taste it could actually be karo syrup. ugh...no it is not sweet at all. ripslexi
Spoke to my trusty Lexus Tech and he thinks it is "cozoline" a protectant they spray on the cars to protect from corrosion as they are shipped over. Since the car was from Tampa the heat can actually make it run and drip as I experienced. He said it is common to reach under a Lexus dash and come out with a waxy greasy hand. Any other thoughts?
