Fuse Box Location For Driver's Rear Brake Light

Recommended Posts

I have a problem. I have a 1999 GS300.

A week ago the dash light came on that I had a bulb out in the rear. So I found out by reading the owners manual that it could be 2 things. 1) Bulb or 2) Circuit.

So I pin pointed the problem to be when the brakes are pressed the driver's side brake lights do not come on, but the right and middle brake lights do come on. Weird.

Bought some tail light bulbs and replaced the 2 side ones (turn signal and reverse lights) knowing that the 2 (top and bottom) are the daily run lights and were working fine.

Checked the brake lights again and still the same problem. No driver's side brake lights.

So the circuit involves a grounding and a relay fuse to complete the circuit. I'm hoping it is the fuse that needs to be changed or perhaps it jiggled out. I think the fuse box could either be under the hood on the driver's side or underneath the driver's side dash on the left hand side.

Does anybody know specifically where this fuse for the driver's side brake light is located or any details?

Thanks for your help!

Pop open the owner's manual. There is a section on fuse box locations that is really user friendly. Incidentally I've been messing with my fuse box trying to shut off the warning buzzer. Removing the fuse didn't work..... So if you happen to know anything about that, let me know. G'luck :D

I read the manual and it was very helpful about the Fuse Boxes and locations. Thank you!

I checked all the fuses and they were all good.

I talked to a friend who has an Audi that had the same problem and he said that the tail light harness plugs into the main cable that goes to the battery.

Not sure if Lexus has that but I will check.

Thanks

Checked the tail light harness, it's not that.

I noticed when I have my driver's side door open and when I press the brakes, I hear a single click, perhaps that is the result of the problem.

I'm out of ideas.

Does anybody know?

Thanks for your help.
