so changing the tank solved the problems?
-
I would get a tranny cooler. I hear that alot.
-
Sledder, did you change the tank yourself?
-
i just got some bilstein shocks and also realized the stock shocks are not coming out without a sawzall.

Get a strutmasters conversion kit made for gx470.

The dealer changed mine out. If you have to pay out of pocket, its not worth it. They will go out again. People replace the air bags with springs. Much cheaper and no more headaches.

100% sensors. had the same issue. easy fix, expeeeensive parts.
Do you have the part numbers? Where did you buy them?

I just ordered bilstein 5100's for the rear to fix the bottoming out. $80 each versus $500 for stock. no more adjusting comfort though.

My 05 GX just hit 75K and is obviously well past the the 60K change interval. I'm somewhat handy in that I've changed my oil, air filters, etc. I'm wondering if this is a worthwile DIY project. My dealer has quoted $79 for a drain and fill and $149 for a flush and fill.
Should I give it a try or just spend the $ to have it done professionally.
Any guidance would be most appreciated.
Thanks!
you need to flush it out with a machine. A drain only lets out a minimal amount. Most of the oil is in the torque converter.

Definitly. I had the driveshaft, height sensors, rain sensor replaced. I keep going back for a problem with the rear end bottoming out and they can't figure it ou but when they so its going to be big money. This is all within 6 months of purchase. Later on down the road when they get like 10 years old that rear air ride is going to deteriorate completely.
I have a 05 GX470 with around 37K miles on it. Factory warranty has since expired. Will I still be able to get Lexus Platinum extended warranty? If so, do you have any suggestions where I can get it at a reasonable price?Thx

No one had any issues other than the sensors? The only other place that someones hands were last was the driveshaft and something affected the rear ride quality. Thanks for any suggestions.
Anyone else have a stiff ride that bottoms out in the rear after the "clunk" fix? I had my driveshaft only replaced. Thought it was the sensors. Had those replaced. Nothing. Now it feels somewhat better only if the fuel tank is almost completely empty. What can I do myself to diagnose this further? -

Anyone have any rear suspension problems other than the sensors? Dealer said there was no code thrown, but it feels like its bottoming out on dips in the road especially when the gas tank is full.
We recently purchased an '04 as well, and were kind of thinking the same thing about the ride when it's loaded up. My 3/4 ton crew cab rides better!
Is this normal for this vehicle?
I've talked to several dealers about this and they don't seem to be much help.
mine is mysteriously back to normal after i filled up my fuel tank to full....weird.

I seemed to have the same problem with my 04. I had the driveline relaced under warranty due to the clunking noise. The car now does not seem like it is bottoming out anymore. Car drives alot better. The car is warrantied 6 year or 70000 miles drive train.
I had my driveshaft replaced. i wonder if that is what caused this?

I just finished installing Xenon HID headlights kits for my Low Beam headlights on my GX. They look great! I am now toying with the thought of installing another kit on my High Beams. Has anyone done this? Pros? Cons? Any thoughts are welcome. By the way, the HID kits I purchased from Steve @ kbcarstuff.com. Excellent customer service.
Thank you!
(oh, I need to change my signature slightly now.)
any pics?

i cant believe there are no kits out there for this vehicle. you can get any finish you want with the aftermarket overlay kits with other vehicles. there must be no demand i guess.
-
does anyone have any idea if it is possible to change all the regular wood colored dash trim to the sport package trim which is daek gray and silver.
-
Are there any? I saw a sport package with grey wood and a silver bezel around the head unit. Where can I get a kit that will overlay my brown trim?
