Thanks guys, this should help :)

Ive heard about the power steering thing, Ill definitely look into that
Interesting you note the instrument cluster
One of the SCs I recently drove had two of the needles lights go out; couldnt tell what it was pointing at (This is of course obvious to detect)
Anything else?
Off topic but when can I start posting the for sale forum? :)

In the market for a SC300 or SC400
Are there any specific problems to look for when shopping?
Like to know know this stuff so I can have the dealer repair or replace before purchase
(Ill of course take it to a mechanic but Id like to know the common problems anyway)
Thanks

-
of course the vehicle condition will be first priority but all the sc300s and 400s in my area have gold badges so im just thinking ahead and preparing

I'm a little lost. What does buying the SC3/4 have to do with gold Emblems?
When you buy your car and you see gold trim on it, just replace them with silver or black emerald.
and now im lost by your reply
for example, im lookng at this car
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...lor=&cardist=18
it has the gold badges, i want silver
im wondering if there are any places that sell the silver emblems and im wondering if its possible to remove the emblems and install new ones successfully

Im considering purchasing a SC300 or 400 but I dont like the gold emblems on it; Id much rather have silver
Is it possible to purchase the silver ones and replace the gold?
Thanks

Where did you get the prefabbed plastic piece?
-
Sure :)
Im using a VIA Epia M10000 motherboard with embedded CPU
Its a very low power solution so its very appealing for automotive use
Im using a Opus 150w DC-DC PSU. This is a specially designed PSU for automotive application. It will automatically power on your computer when the 12v accessory line gets power and powers down your system at a specified delay after the 12v accesory line loses power
For LCD Im using a Lilliput 7" widescreen VGA touchscreen.
For software there are several frontend programs that let you operate GPS, MP3s and other programs from a touchscreen friendly interface. I use a program called MediaCar. Its skinnable so you can make it look however you want
I got all of my information from the good guys over at mp3car.com
Tons of info there
Also, is there a wiring harness adapter sold anywhere?
-
well if you can help me with the screen i can help you with the programs ;)
ive already built mine and have done research for over a year
thanks for posting the pic
did you fab that piece of plastic yourself?
-
hmm, doesnt look too bad, i may be able to pull something off :)
are the ac control and the stereo seperate?

Hi guys
Im in the process of buying a new car
Ive narrowed it down to either a 6th gen Celica or a SC300. Im heavily leaning towards the SC300 since it isnt too much more expensive and its a night and day difference performance wise compared to the Celica
I've built a computer system for my car using a LCD display that provides navigation assistance and MP3 playback. A deciding factor for me getting a car is the availability of a prime location to embed my LCD
The SC300 doesnt seem to have a standard double DIN setup so Im concerned about the potential to put a LCD in.
I would appreciate it if someone could post some pictures of the stock stereo removed or pictures with an aftermarket head unit or even pictures of an installed LCD
Thanks
Run 91 Octane?
in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Posted
Looking at purchasing either a sc300 or sc400
Is it necessary to run 91 octane?
Im rather...umm...cheap :P (maybe frugal is a better word) and Id like to avoid 91 if possible (Its 3 dollars a gallon here )
But if 91 is necessary, Im prepared to shell out for it
