    here is the link.

"That sure sounds like an IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) issue to me. There are several DIY guides on here if you use the search function. I've cleaned the IACV twice on our 1995 ES300 due to nearly the exact same symptoms. Both times it started beautifully from there out."

Thank you so much, yeah your symptoms and mine seem to be the exact same thing. Ill take a bit more look into the IACV and look at some guides and what not, I was really scared it was an engine problem, didn't want something like that. Thank you again.

yea i did find a tutorial somewhere online let me see if i can find the link to it. here's one guide it's for a rx 330 though.

Do you think that works for the ES300? The tutorial sounds perfect, perfect instructions, very clear. If it works for the ES300 I think ill give it a try.

  3. Hey guys, i have a 2000 ES300 and sometimes when i startup my car, the engine dies, and i would have to start it up again and hold gas to keep the engine running for a certain amount of time and then the engine would stay on. Im not sure if its something wrong with my battery, or is it some engine problem?? hopefully not engine.. I dont really know how to fix the problem, it occurs every once in a while, and not everytime i start my car up. Help me please!!

  4. Premium fuel was required for my wife's old 97 ES300, her present 04 ES330 and my Nissan 90 300ZX. But we have used regular unleaded fuel in these cars since the day we purchased them. There have been absolutely no mechanical or performance issues at all in over almost 400 000 km that these cars have travelled collectively.

However, neither my wife nor I drive these cars hard. Nor will we ever do so. Maybe both of us being newly under the heading of senior citizens is the reason. The cars' ECU's will automatically retune the engine parameters to prevent preignition with the regular unleaded fuel, if you are not constantly demanding top performance.

But, if you are the kind of driver to drive a car hard and are always on the gas asking the tranny to kick down .... do yourself a favour and spring for the extra cash to use premium. A burned and melted piston is a very expensive wake up call.

I have a tendency sometimes to gas hard, and have the tranny kick down, so yeah I think I might stick to premium, unless I really turn super broke, Thank you very much for the advice. And no, I do not want a burned OR melted piston.
