  1. They must have been really careful putting together the early 06 models. Mine was one of the first, bought in Oct of 05 and has never had any of the noise problems i have read about here.

Bring your car up to the potholed roads of the northeast and give it a month and it will be singing like a canary.... haha

Get on their butts and make em fix the roads. You all pay plenty of taxes from what I hear.

TOO much graft and corruption in Massachusetts. Something like on 10 cents of every toll dollar gets spend on roads - the rest disappears. Seriously the roads and weather eat the car alive...

Well, I'm here in sunny SoCal so I don't have the road issues you have in the NorthEast. I have a 2007 IS250 and have never had any noticeable noises in the sunroof or any other part of the car.

  2. Anyone having a problem with their clock changing on its own? A couple of months ago I noticed it was about 30 mins slow. Yesterday I changed it to the time change in the morning, and at night it was 30 mins. slow again. Does this have anything to do with the battery?

I'm not sure if my last one posted, so this may be a repeat. I have a 2007 IS250. When I got the car, the clock was losing about 10 minutes/day. When I took it to the dealer they seemed to know about the problem. The tech said they "reprogrammed" the clock. It took about 5 minutes and the clock has been fine ever since (3 years). I don't know where you are in SoCal, but I take mine to Tustin Lexus.

And Smooth1 is right. The clock looks like they bought the overstock when Yugo went out of business.

  3. I'm just wondering what the life expectancy of the original tires (Bridgestone Potenza) that I got on my 2007 IS250 RWD. I do mostly Freeway driving and only have 14,000 miles on my 2 1/2 year old car. Will I (should I) at least get 20,000 - 25,000 miles?

    Thanks

I've got a 2007 IS250 RWD with ~ 24K on the Potenzas. I do mixed freeway/city driving and I do not drive the car hard. I think I'll get about 30K out of them.

  4. Hi, guys

I've had my IS 350 for a few months now. I have this annoyance when I drive with my window rolled down. At about 40 mph the air coming from it starts to pulsate (I think it's called "buffeting") instead of being smooth. At freeway speeds it starts to become unpleasant. One way I found to smooth out the air is to open the right-rear window as well (not always an option as there may be passengers there).

I didn't have this problem with my old car (a Camaro). Possibly because it was a coupe and had much longer windows that were producing a better airflow.

Does anybody know how to improve that? I've seen on some old cars these air deflector thingies attached to the front of the window. Is that what they are for? If so, can you recommend a brand that is compatible with Lexus IS?

    Thanks

    Ivo

I've got an IS250, and you're right, the right rear window trick does work. When I'm not on the AC (I'm in SoCal), I always put the sunroof open on the back and use the right rear window (I seldom have passengers). You might try the sunroof instead of the right rear and see if that works. Try it open in both the back and front.

  5. Yeah, I think you'll have alot more fun that way. I hate it when they scare the heck out of you while you set up a drift turn with a quick steer, and e-brake tug, as the tires brake loose with a full on shreiking scream while death gripping the door and OS handle. Man that's distracting!! LOL!

I've been trying Power mode for the last 3-4 tankfuls. This is the first time I've tried it. I do notice the higher shift points when coasting to a stop. Also, it looks like it gets 1-2 MPG worse than Economy mode. I'm in Souther California and I do not drive the car hard.

  6. I just bought the same tires at Costco for my 07 IS250 AWD. The Bridgestones had a bubble in one tire & I didn't want to risk it. Haven't driven it enough to judge the new tires, but they better be good at the price I paid.

I paid a fortune at Sam's Club so I'm banking these tires will last much longer than the Bridgestones based on what I read.

Agreed. They were not cheap, but they have a 45,000 mile tread life warranty. My guess is they will be good for more than 50k miles. I didn't want to buy a tire that didn't have a tread life warranty.

With a 45m warranty, I'm surprised the ride and road noise was not affected. I'm a new IS250 owner and am concerned with tire mileage. The car has 18" Bridgestone Turanza y rated, and i've been told to expect 12-15m miles from them. There is no hard driving with the car, dry sothern California weather. Any experiance with these tires?

I have a 2007 IS250. I've got Bridgestone Potenzas on mine and I've got ~23000 miles on them. I think I'll get 25-30K out of the tires. I am also in SoCal and I do not drive the car hard. I think you'll get more than 15K out of yours. BTW, how much were the Michelins at CostCo?

  7. I've been having a major issue with my car over the past 6 months. I'll be driving on the highway and sometimes when I go to hit the gas, the car slightly hesitates and the CHECK VSC light along with the traction control and check engine light come on. The Check engine light flashes the entire time and I notice the car is sluggish and rough. When I turn the vehicle off and back on again, the lights are all gone and the crazy thing is none of this triggers any error codes in the computer.

I've only once before was able to get the check engine light to stay on and that one time it did trigger an error code saying something about the 3rd cylinder. So they changed the spark plug and moved the coil over to another cylinder. Since then, the problem still persists but I haven't been able to get the check engine light to stay on which is a problem because it won't trigger any error codes and makes it nearly impossible to determine the problem.

    Anyone have any suggestions whatsoever?

    Thanks

I have a 2007 IS250 (~20,000 miles). About two months ago my Check VSC light come on and stayed on. When I took it to the dealer (Tustin Lexus, Tustin, CA) they said the code indicated a known problem that required a transmission replacement, but they had never seen the code in an IS250. They checked with HQ in Japan and they wound up sending new programming for the transmission computer. They installed the new programming about 4-5 weeks ago and the problem has not occurred since then. You might have your dealer contact Tustin Lexus and see if it might be related.
