  1. Can a Lexus dealer replace the center armrest compartment with one like the 2006 model? I want both the deep compartment and shallow top compartment with the lid that opens backwards. If a dealer can't do this is there a shop/garage that does this sort of work?

A Lexus dealer will NOT do this, but possibly a shop that does interior/exterior customizing.

You should be able to get the center compartment from a wrecked RX from that year; along with all the parts you would need to install it... I saved 75% replacing damaged parts buying over the net... Do a google search or ebay; also contact a local auto scraper they can get it for you...

  2. I own a 92 ES300. Now, I'm thinking of buying RX.

Today I test-drove a 2004 RX330. It's smooth and nice but felt little noisy and break is slipping little bit when waiting on down hill stoplight.

It is 2WD with 40,200 miles. The dealer (not Lexus) is asking $29,900. Is it a good price? or what would be the right price for this car? And, how much would it cost to get an extended warranty up to 100,000 miles?

    It has:

    Power Steering

    Power Windows

    Power Door Locks

    Tilt Wheel

    Cruise Control

    AM/FM Stereo

    CD Auto Changer

    Mark Levinson Audio

    Navigation System/Backup Camera

    DVD System

    Dual Front Air Bags

    Front Side Air Bags

    ABS (4-Wheel)

    Traction Control

    Leather

    Dual Power Seats

    Moon Roof

    Roof Rack

    Privacy Glass

    Premium Wheels

    Thanks!

    I own a 2001 and a 2004 Rx300 and 330...

Do NOT buy a Lexus from a non Lexus Dealer…….. They are not in a position to take care of you like the dealer can… In particular with regard to warranty… The Lexus dealer can offer you a real Lexus warranty and that is the ONLY way to go… The price they are asking is HIGH --- you should be able to buy a like car with a Lexus warranty to 100,000 miles in the 27,000 range with tax, license, and DOC fees ( watch the doc fees it is PURE profit for the dealer and is negotiable) The cars that the Lexus dealer sells are the best of their trades as they do not want problems in the future… All the others are wholesaled to others… For this kind of money the car should look and drive like NEW --- Period… The dealer asking price is a long way from what they will take in the end… If they want 29,000 offer 25,000 including tax, etc… Car business is slow now you are in a strong position to make a good deal… The secret to winning is always remember you can walk away and shop another day or buy from another dealer… Take a hard look at the Toyota Highlander it is the same car and a good bit cheaper… I will get off my soap box now and good luck…

  3. I have been driving with my headlights ON for over 30 years after reading about an over the road Truck Driver with a perfect driving record --- No accidents… So far the same is holding true for me; and for 12 years I averaged 30,000 miles per year…

I have yet to replace a single bulb front or back of any of my vehicles…

When I park my Lexus, with the lights left on, I simply hit the lock key twice to turn off the lights… Or you can hit it once and after 20 seconds or so the lights will turn off automatically…

There is No DOUBT, in my mind, that you are more visable and that is more than half the battle…

  4. Weird, WEIRD...

It turns out I am the winning bidder on Ebay for a driver side mirror for an RX330. The text represented it as a D/S for the 2001 which is why I bid.

    Item # 8040551804

If it will work for you make me an offer above $100.00

I am very interested........... Do you know if it has the memory feature??? Which my car needs... Thanks Mark

The 2004 d/s mirror just arived, it is black, and the connector has 14 wires.

You started out by saying that only the mirror was broken, are you aware that the mirror is removable/replaceable from the rest of the assembly?

Do you know how to remove my broken mirror and replace it using the glass part from your Mirror??? Thanks Mark

Not at this exact moment but I do have the Lexus shop manuals for the RX330 so I can look. I'll do that on Monday.

Okay, I have separated the mirror from the assembly and it does have two connections, one for heating and one for autodim.

If you want to call me I can walk you through the procedure to remove your broken one.

I see where you sent me an email but other than the fact it was from you, through the Lexus site, there was no message ------------ Unless this was a notice from Lexus and your mail is yet to arrive... Please advise Mark...

  7. Sure,,, pick the hardest one to come by... LOL

It is a matter of having some mechanical knowledge and basic tools. Due to the year and being foreign I am sure you will need Metric tools. Generally, mirrors are a pain to install only because of what you have to do to get to the mounting bolts. Not hard, just a pain in the butt kind of thing.

Out of 1800 yard this is all there was listed in inventory...

    2005 Mirror-Door Lexus RX330 OEM ASY NICE,11 WIRE NTO $289

    2004 Mirror-Door Lexus RX330 LH Ele, L, w/memory-GRIS IM $275

    2004 Mirror-Door Lexus RX330 LH Ele, L, w/memory-AZUL NOF $265

    2004 Mirror-Door Lexus RX330 LH Ele, L, w/memory-GRIS NOF $265

    2004 Mirror-Door Lexus RX330 LH Ele, L, w/memory-ORO NOF $265

I own a RX300 so I am not too familiar with the color codes of your 04 RX330. The four letter description after the word memory I assume is the color option. Hopefully one of them matches yours. If so, you will not need to paint it. If you buy a new one you will need to get it painted, keep that in mind.

If any of these interest you just let me know. I'll call to confirm they still have it in stock and get a confirmed price and the shipping amount..

The code for my car is 01A which is a light gold If you can come up with a mirror in gold or one that I have to paint pleae let me know... Do you have a phone number where I can talk to you direct??? Thanks Mark

  8. I own a salvage yard and can get parts easily. Need to know which of your two RX's as well as the following info to get the correct price for you..

    For the 2001,

    Electric, w/o auto dimming; R.

    Electric, w/o auto dimming; L.

    Electric, w/auto dimming, R.

    Electric, w/auto dimming, L.

    For the 2004,

    Electric, R., w/memory

    Electric, R., w/o memory

    Electric, L., w/memory

    Electric, L., w/o memory

For example, I looked up the 01 electric w/o auto dimming and can get used all day long for $125 to $150. Found new ones listed for $159.00

With auto dimming they are closer to $250.00

Let me know if I can help...

It is for the 2004, driver side, with memory... That would be the left side when your sitting in the car... Is this something I can install myself???

  9. I always drive with my headlights on day and night ---something I have done for 25 some years and have, to date, never had an accident… I picked up the idea from an old over the road truck driver… You would think that I would have a few burned out bulbs over the years but NONE so far in cars I have kept under 3 or 4 years…

There is no doubt in my mind that you are more visible and that IS more than half the battle…

  10. You do NOT need to go to the dealer to get general service preformed --- I go to the dealer for warranty work ONLY… Talk to your friends who own Lexus, Toyota, etc – ask them where they go -------- there are a lot of good repair shops that specialize in Japanese Cars that do the same work for a good deal less money… Oil changes, tire rotations, air filters, etc are easily preformed by a quick-change oil store… Keep a logbook and receipts of all work done… A log adds value when you go to sell or trade your car…

  11. I drive a 330 2004 and a 300 2001 and do not like the HID at all --- they are set TOO low and it is very easy over drive the range of the lights… I much prefer driving the 2001 at night and would exchange the HID for the standard lighting in a flash… My guess is that the lighting issue could become a litigation problem for Lexus, and others, as there is no doubt in my mind it is a safety issue and recent comments in Consumer Reports re HID seem to confirm this…

  12. ON the 330 5th gear is overdrive, pull it left, towards the driver and it drops into 4th which is a good gear driving under 45 or so driving in traffic in town --- I use 4th to help me drive down steep mtn grades here in Arizona...

  13. I would NOT use sand paper, steel wool, etc ------------ use Novus-2 fine scratch remover (800-548-6872), I have, works GREAT… Not sure what your problem is but it is common to get a “fogging” (this is in fact hard water stains) on the outside lens of the headlights which Novus 2 takes off with very little effort --- the lens looking like new… There is a posting, about 2 months back that goes into more detail…

  14. Looks like it's your Air/Fuel Ratio sensor (also called the Bank 1 sensor).

Your Lexus dealer will replace it for about $400. You can order one from oxygensensors.com and do it yourself for about half that.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also own a 2001 & know that, some day, this will happen to me...

I checked out the oxygensensors.com site and loaded the requested info --- they came up with four part numbers, two of which "requires two (2)" at $200.+ each... Think a shop manual whould be a good investment for me, is one available???

  15. Just purchased my folks 2001 RX 300 with 48,000 miles --- thinking about buying an extended warranty... I have talked to the Lexus Dealer and they seem to want $1,600 for three years up to 70,000 miles... I drive less than 10,000 miles a year and would prefer a five year 100,000 mile plan...

Your thoughts, comments and experiences with Lexus's extended warranties and other companies, would be appreciated...

    Thanks

  16. I also live in Dry Desert conditions... I would not call it fogging, but more of a "fog" that has dryed in place... It does cut down on light passing through the lenses --- and does not look all that great during the day... I am still under 4 years and 50,000 so will give the dealer a shot...

  17. As it happens I just had my 2001 RX in the GoodYear Store and they Put the left rear on the right front, right front to left front, left front to right rear and I bet you can figure out the rest...

I trust they know what they are doing, as I thought it was front to back also...

    Wonder what others will say..........

  18. My parents are at their vacation home, 100's of miles away from the nearest Lexus dealer, and had a minor fender bender --- caused, in large part by the "tip-down mirrors... Is there a code, or procedure that would allow them to cancel this option???

    Thanks
