  1. The front end is bouncing around.... I went to 2 different places and both said they all 4 needed to be replaced. (150K miles) I think I am going to order the parts for Lexuspartsnow.com which is cheaper than both places quoted. Then pay for the labor.

Boy its going to be expensive, yikes.

  2. I have the 6 disc factory DVD/CD Player... I push the eject button and nothing happens. Sometimes when I put on the DVD player it will play the current dvd and other times it just says DVD error. I think the disc is jammed in there... Any sugguestions? Should I just force the 6 disc out and then try to reload it?

If its broke, any recommendations where I can get a new/used one?

    Thanks!

  3. I bring my 2003 Lx to the Toyota Dealership for oil changes and big things like timing belt etc... They recommended I do the Driveline Service $209.95 and Power steering fluid flush $119.95. Are these necessary? If probably a good idea to do them, do I need to have them done at the dealership or can any "mom and pop" mechanic shop do these for me?

For example, I would not get my timing belt done at a mom and pop dealership... To much involved and I feel more comfortable with someone who has done a timing belt on a car like mine.

    Thanks for your inputs!

  4. -I have heard good reviews about the Hankook VENTUS AS RH07 Tire - 275/60R18H Has anyone bought these?

-How about the Michelin LATITUDE TOUR HP Tire - P275/60R18 111H BSW?

    -Or maybe another tire?

    Thanks for your help!!

  5. Hello,

Looking for either 2004, 2005 LX470 with nigtvision, rear seat entertaiment.

What is market price by now?

Is there anyone has one for sell?

    Balgaa

    Hey Balgaa,

I recently purchased a certified pre-owned 2005 LX470 with 20K miles, no nightvision, and no rear seat entertainment for $32,000.

I was looking for a low mileage (40K miles or less) 2005 or 2006 LX470.

For a sub-50K mile 2005, prices range from low $30's to upper $30's. Most I found were between $35,000 and $39,995.

For a sub-50K mile 2006, prices range from upper $30's to mid $40's. Most I found were between $38,000 and $43,000+.

    I targeted about $28K to $32K for a 2005 and about $35K or $36K for a 2006 - I was not in a hurry.

Neither nightvision nor rear seat entertainment seemed to affect the price. About 1/4 of the 2005 LX470's and about 1/2 of the 2006 LX470's that I saw had rear seat entertainment. Much, much less had the nightvision option.

Maybe a private party seller would increase their price for these options, but I didn't find many LX470's being sold by private party sellers.

    Good luck with your search.

Someone has done their research! I know the 2003's and 2004's pretty well... Big step up from 2002 to 2003 with the body of the car becoming wider, 16 inch tires bumped up to 18 inch tires, and the dash. I currently own a 2003 LX 470 and am trying to sell it to buy one with less miles even though I think this SUV will go forever!

  6. Attached are the 90K maintenance requirements for a 2003 LX470 from the owners section of https://www.lexus.com

A maintenance booklet containing these requirements should have come with your LX.

The first scheduled spark plug replacement for your 03 LX is 120,000 miles -- they are Iridium spark plugs and could probably go even longer that that. I had the Iridium spark plugs replaced for the first time on my 00 LS at 120,000 miles a few weeks ago and the plugs showed no sign of deterioration ... and the car doesn't run any better with new Iridium plugs -- it ran perfectly with the old plugs.

"Normally" the timing belt change includes replacing the water pump, the tensioner, two idlers, a few O-rings and maybe a few other small parts -- at least those were the additional parts replaced during the three timing belt changes I've had done on Lexus V8 cars.

The last timing belt change I had done (on a 2000 LS400) cost $780 including the above mentioned parts at an indie shop specializing in Lexus with the work done by a former Lexus dealer mechanic. I'm guessing the cost will be similar for an LX470.

Thanks for your help!! I know sometimes Owner Manuals adds a few things that dont necessarily need to be done....

  7. When I start the 2003 Lx 470 up the steering wheel makes a squeaking noise until it moves into place and does the same thing when I turn the car off. It doesnt make any noise when I am driving. Is there a fluid that is low or do I need to lubricate something?

    Thanks for your help!

Does it happen when you remove or insert the key? The whole steering column adjusts when you remove / insert the key, maybe squeak your hearing is from this. If it is squeaking, there is probably a TSB from Lexus about it which they'll fix if you take it in.

Thanks for you help.... It happens when the steering column moves into place when I start the car also when I remove the key and the steering column moves back closer to the dashboard. I dont have a lexus dealership close by and was hoping I could fix it. So you think I need to take it in to fix it?

  9. I have a 2003 Lexus LX 470. I dont need to replace the exhaust tip but it is just rusty and looks nasty.... I went to the Toyota dealership and they said the part would be $299 and the labor $150. Does this sound about right?

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Here we go again. I have read virtually every post concerning the 90k sevice on the forum. I have a 2003 LX, and have had virtually no issues with it ever. I have done some of the oil changes when time would not allow me to go the the local Oklahoma city dealer, Eskridge Lexus, but no way do I feel qualified to do the big stuf! I would appreciate input as to what to ask for concerning the 90k service. Did you all replace idler pulleys, water pump, serpentine belt, etc. etc.? Any and all input would be appreciated. Also what ballpark figure should I expect as to cost. Thanks in advance.

    Hey Geoff,

I also own a 2003 LX and am close to the 90K mile mark..... Do you have any suggestions for me? Where did you take it?

    Thanks!

I failed to mention but I live Oklahoma also.
