  1. Hi. My air conditoning on my 2005 LS430 is warm at startup for about 10 minutes, and then gets colder. Vehicle has 33k miles on it, just out of warranty.

My Honda Ridgeline is cold at startup, that's the basis for comparison, so it's not my imagination or anything.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be, and what I should tell the Lexus dealer when I bring it in for service?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm curious as to why you are out of warranty under 5 years and less than 60K miles?

  2. On my LS430, at the inside top of all 4 side windows is a black 1 1/2" composite seal (for lack of a better term) which helps keep the windows sealed when they are raised. Each time I detail this area, this "seal" is somewhat rough rather than smooth as it is after I've "dressed" it. I suspect this could become a source of wind noise in the future. How do any of y'all clean and/or dress or treat this area?? I've posted this on both the Club Lexus and Autopia forums and will post replies if any.

    Thanks

I am pleased to see this question asked. I don't have an answer to your question, but I experience some wind noise from the right front window that is solved by lowering and then raising the window again I never thought of checking the "seal" that you describe. What exactly do you do to clean and dress the area?

  3. I had a vandal break my passanger window on a 06' GS 430, while I am glad that was all the damage that was done, now I have to deal with replacing it.

Can I replace the window myself (buying the glass and taking it to mechanic) or is it best to go through the dealer?

I heard that a dealer would probably be best due to an air bag being in the door?

Ofcourse I am trying to save a buck while still getting good service, my mechanic can do both, but are their complications with replacing the glass window that an old school mechanic may not be aware of???

What is the best way to go about replacing it?

I don't know the rules in Texas, but I know in Massachusetts that glass is covered by insurance. Check with your insurance company.
