  1. this is the second sc 400 that i have owned and this one has a weird problem and i need a little help knowing what to do. after driving fine for about 20 minutes all of a sudden it just dies, you can put it in netural before it even stops rolling and it will start right up no problem and my not do it again for a week then it happens again, of course it will never do it when a service guy is there, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. by the way it is a 95 with 120,000 miles and a complete service and belt change at 80,000.

  2. I just bought a 95 with 138,000 miles on it, runs great. A million miles? I don't see why not with regular maintenance and replacing worn parts as needed. How many miles a year do you drive?

A new car if you drive a million miles, that's a good one.

Technically any car can drive any distance... all depends on how much you're willing to spend ;) This topic invariably shows up on every car model's dedicated forum.

Now, original drivetrain? That's a different story.

not really, i have two good friends that both have 1990 ls 400's one has over a million miles the other over 700000 miles, both have original motor and transmission, only add on's on the motor replaced air compressor, alt, water oump the body looks rough after going through two family members but both have had oil changes every 3000 miles timming belt changes ect. the guy that has the million mile car bought a new one at 250000 miles and gave the 1990 to his son in law, after a month he traded with him and took the 1990 back and said it was a better car.i really believe the 1990 was the best ever built,

  3. racwld1, I don't think I understand. Are you unable to remove the bulb socket from the lens housing or are you unable to remove the bulb from the socket after you remove the socket from the lens housing.

The warning light on the dash can be caused by something as simple as a broken bulb filament that can still make enough contact to light the bulb. It can also be caused by a bad ground wire, a bad socket, or the bulb failure sensor but it is more likely a problem with a bulb.

    What's with the "1993 LS430" in your car model? I don't think they made the LS430 in 1993. ;)

it is a 2003 i changed the bulb but no luck must have a short somewhere, any ideas before i take it to the dealer would be appreciated, thanks.

  4. I am a new owner to a '94 ls400 and maybe there is info you guys can share. First off i have the blackout problem with the dash lights. Heard everything from circuit board, to replacing the whole dash upwards of $3000. Also the gas gauge does not work at all. Is this tied together?

I was also looking to put a sound system in it. It has the Nakamichi system but two speakers are blown. What is recommended for speakers that can be put in. How much this going to run me? And do i need to get a faceplate to be put in or will the speakers work fine with the Nakamichi controls.

    Thanks my ninjas.

the dash can be rebuilt, look on ebay there is a guy there that does an exchange deal for about $200 i had mine done on my 94 and it worked great.
