  1. :chairshot: Hello to all,I am trying to figure out why you need the lower ball joint if you r upgrading to the 1995 and up 4 piston caliber on a 1990-1994 lexus. If I am right the caliper bolts to the spindle right?and the ball joint is all the way at the bottom of the spindle so where would the caliper hit at??I have read a few post on the upgrade but really dont understand y the ball joint play a part in the upgrade. Thanks to all on here.

  2. Hello every1 Help me understand what is going on.I have a 1994 es 300 and I tried to check the codes so I hooked up the jumper to Te1 and E1 pit the car in neutral and cut the car to on.Nothing no blinking lights, can some 1 lead me in the right way to figure this out??Could I have a blown fuse?????
  3. okay some 1 please help me out here,I have a 1992 ls 400 but both power mirrors is not working.is it possible that there is a bad relay or blown fuse??or could it be the switch???help

By not working do you mean not working at all? I've had two Lexus' an 05 es 330 and now an 05 Ls 430 and the mirrors would not go up or down. They would not go down when put in reverse either. In both cases I was still under warranty and they replaced free of charge. They would go in and out but not up or down. It seems to be somewhat common since the service tech didn't appear suprised.

Well I have checked all fuses and still nothing could it b a bad switch??

  4. Hello every 1.I still have my 1992 lexus ls 400 and runs great.I just purchased a 2003 LS 430 but I like the 400 better, anyway code 41 came up and I think that is the throttle position sensor. Is that a hard fix well it dont look hard.I know where it is located with 2 screws but from what I hear u have to make a few adjustment.Do any 1 on here no what to do or have ever did 1????Thanks to all
  5. A double din still would not fit 100%.

To the OP do what you will, but my advice would be to save your money for something else. Just get some subs hooked up in the back. Save The +$600 for a nice stereo and lower your car ;)

Check out the kenwood model that is a flush mount, mine look pretty close to perfect, also the factory radio is very boreing at least to me,got to go with the newer look.1 more point the problem with these Ls 400 the radio and the climate control screens fade alot on these cars, lexus really need to do better.I still think these cars are the best.My wife drives a 2006 430 benz and she likes my car better :D

  6. The 90-92 LS headlights use 9004 bulbs. The 93-94 LS uses 9003 bulbs. ( http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/A...placementGuide/ ) The two bulb types and their connectors are very different. 9003 bulbs are a little higher wattage than 9004 bulbs.

Aftermarket HID kits often don't work very well but work particularly poorly in a 90-94 LS due to the headlight's awful light pattern dictated by the headlight lens.

I think you would be better off buying aftermarket Eagle Eyes headlights on eBay like Python did. You could replace the connectors on your car with 9003 connectors so you could use the Eagle Eyes headlights.

Last I saw, Python was offering his HID kit for sale. Do a search for his "for sale" thead if you really want to go that way.

Good looking Bro,But to honest I just looked at a 1997 LS400 I might buy tomorrow and throw my 20's on it.I hope this year is a better car not that my 1992 model is bad but I do want the newer look :D

  7. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease ease up on the caps  your posts are very irking to read :D

You're lucky 1990LS400 is helping you cause that simple fact can stop a lot of people from doing it.

 Yes you r right,I hate typing nothing personal I think it is for woman.Any way I must have hit the cap key

  8. thanks jcrome...im getting ready to smoke the tail lights as well as the corner lights that came with the eagle eyes

heres a pic of the corners that came with them

Phyton...the lights look great!!! I know the store on Ebay where you bought your lights and I asked about the lights fitting a 1990 LS400 (which is what I have) and they said the lights only fit 93-94 models. I know you have a 92 and......it is obvious that they fit very nicely, however, did you have to do any modifications in order to make them fit? I want to get them but I wanna make sure they will fit my 1990.

yes i had to make some mods......just adapt the 9004 stock sockets to fit the 9003 which the light assemblies fit...its very easy, the light assemblies come with bulbs already, get 2 9003 sockets and hook em up to the bulbs, then adapt what u have left, u will c what im talkin about, i had to grind a little to get it to work...no biggie tho

SO LET ME GET THIS RIGHT,BASICALLY YOU DID A LITTLE WIRING CHANGE RIGHT.I DID THAT ON MY OLD CAR A 1992 VOLVO 850 WELL I CHANGE THE FRONT LIGHT FROM THE 1992 LOOK TO THE 1997 DOUBLE HEADLIGHT LIGHTS, JUST HAD TO CHANGE THE PLUGS.SO AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK??

  9. Keep the stock stereo....

In MY opinion aftermarket stereos just look cheesy and out of place in the LS. I'll find a pic of my 91. I kicked myself in the !Removed! afterwards. Oh and the only things they could hook the new one up to was the speakers. That means no dimming feature and a BIRGHT @$$ deck in your face at night!

Even if you get a double din it will still have the gaps on either side... Just looks VERY out of place to me. and begging to be ripped off! :D :D

( YES, that is Montgomery Gentry B) )

NOTE I WOULD NEVER GO WITH A SINGLE DIN I AGREE IT LOOKS CHEAP IN THESE CARS,THAT IS Y I SAID GO WITH A DOUBLE DIN HEAD LIKE I DID IT LOOKS FACTORY AND IT FILLS UP THE HOLE PERFECT.I BOUGHT THE KENWOOD DOUBLE DIN WITH NAVI,LOOKS LIKE IT WAS BOUGHT THAT WAY.

  10. I HAVE BEEN READING ON A FEW FORUMS ABOUT THE 1990-1992 HEAD LIGHTS AND THE 1993-1994 HEADLIGHTS.THEY LOOK THE SAME TO me,SO WHAT IS THE DIFF?CAN SOME 1 HELP ME ON THIS MATTER.I WANT TO BUY THE HID LIGHTS FOR MY 1992 MODEL(LS 400)BUT THE WEB SITE SAY THEY R FOR 1993-1994 ONLY. DO THEY PLUG UP THE SAME WAY?????
  11. i need help in deciding whether i should keep the factory stereo in or replace it with an aftermarket headunit..because i plan on getting 2 15" kickers and i need help choosing which amp i should get with those.any suggestions?

I WOULD REPLACE THE FACTORY RADIO,AFTER WHILE THEY WORK LIKE *BLEEP*,IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT GET A DOUBLE DIN THEY LOOK GREAT I JUST PUT 1 IN MY 1992 LS 400 WITH A 4 CHANNEL KICKER AMP.I RAN THE INSIDE SPEAKER TIED THEM IN THE FRONT CHANNEL AND BRIDGE THE SUB 12 INCH IN THE OTHER CHANNEL.THE SOUND IS GREAT.BUT IF YOU R RUNNING 2 SUBS I WOULD A MONO AMP TO PUSH THE SUB AND A 2 CHANNEL AMP TO PUSH THE INSIDE SPEAKES BECAUSE THEY R SMALL ANY WAY.NOW BASED ON HOW POWERFUL YOUR MONO AMP IS WILL DETERMINE WHETHER U WANT A COMPACITOR THEY WILL HELP U FROM TAKING TO MUC  :D H POWER FROM YOUR BATTERY WHEN THE BASE DROP.

  12. I always change the pads and rotors front and back on my '94 LS that has 119,000 miles. The other day, that round "O" with pads indicator came up in the cluster. Went away, now on full time. I removed the "low pads" contacts at the front rotors years ago-actually I broke them removing the original rotors. The rebuilt brakes have less than 5,000 miles on them, maybe less. And they work smooth as silk. The brake fluid is full. So the question is: What is the light trying to tell me?

Thanks in advance for your help. I WOULD RE CHECK THE CONNECTION AGAIN MAYBE SOMETHING CAME LOOSE.

  13. I have a 92 LS and was thinking of installing a set of 20" wheels and then lowering the car to get rid of the space between the tire and wheel well that I believe makes the LS a "granny mobile". I have always enjoyed driving these cars and I would like to give it a more aggressive stance by lowering it anyway.

    MY QUESTION IS...

has anyone done this and know of any problems I may be running into i.e. the wheels making contact with the fender????

I would really like to get an idea of what kind of problems lie ahead before I get all gung-ho doing this.

i have a 1992 ls 400 20 inch wheels i have a 40 off set and my rear dont rub at all even with people in the back seat, but when i hit a nice dip my front wheel rub a little.s  o i bought coil spring helper and no problem since.hope this help as well

  14. I am using synthetic in my 95 LS just because I know the synthetic oil is better technoloogy .... and I want my Lex to go as far as possible .... I change the oil regardless of cost when I feel the oil looks too dirty and not based on the miles driven ... but I do tend to be a fastideous maintenace nut ..... all my neighbors think I am crazy just for how much time I spend detailing my cars ... well ... I do not play cards, or go fishing, or am into sports ... but I do like my cars! (^-^)

clearly the technology that synthetic oil represents is better ... and your Lexus engine is so cool, it surely would be justified to use synthetic in that car, you know? I say do it just for the peace of mind you will get ....

You do realize that the appearance of the oil means nothing, right? The only way to know for certain how your oil is wearing is to get a used oil analysis. If you are a maintenance nut, check out Blackstone Labs. If you are changing your oil more frequently than recommended in your owner's manual, you are most likely just wasting oil.

Also, the only thing I am aware of where synthetic oil is superior to dino oil is that it will last longer. I don't think there is any magic in the bottle that will make your car last longer.

    Just my $0.02

Well to all on here,I have used mobile 1 since I had a 1993 volvo 850 when I bought the car it had 194K so I switch to mobile 1 well I got another 60K out of it, and sold in perfect running condition.Any way I bought a 1992 LS 400 with 254K on it once again changed to mobile 1 and the car is perfect and very quiet. To some it up, the car has 300K on it and not 1 leak or rattle.I personally approve a full synthetic motor oil in in high mileage cars as well.It will help your engine.
  15. What is the need for upgrading if it's already upgraded I'm saying.

You said "they" (I'm assuming is a pronoun for the previous owner) already upgraded the calipers and rotors...

Are you wanting to upgrade even further?

Like Supra brakes? Or 2nd gen Brakes?

Sorry when I said they, I meant they upgraded they lexus model in 1993-1994 braking system.I brought they 1993- 1994 calipers dual piston but reading further in that upgrade for that year they also upgraded the rotors bigger rotors. What i am saying is will the 1993-1994 rotors fit my year 1992 as well??

yes, you can use the 93-94 rotors to complete your minor brake upgrade.

the difference, however, will be minimal. most in search of improved braking performance upgrade to the 95-00 LS400 calipers/rotors since they are HUGE and 4piston lightweight aluminum calipers. to do that swap you need 95+ caliper, pads, rotors, and lower ball joints, as well as wheels that wil fit over the larger calipers.

COOL THANKS A LOT FOR THE INFO, I AM RUNNING ON MY CAR NOW 20 WHEELS SO THAT SHOULD BE FINE

..I think it's safe to assume the rotors are already upgraded??

A little more detail might be helpful in this case. ;)

well i have not bought the rotors yet that is y I am asking should I or can I upgrade to bigger rotors??
