  1. OKAY.. it was time for timing belt change for my 99 GS300. So I decided to change everything. I bought drive belt, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, cam seal, crank seal, oil pump seal, timing belt tensioner, timing belt tensioner roller, spark plugs, spark plug wires, pcv valve, throttle body cleaner.... umm I think thats it.

My mechanic quoted me $350.00 to do everything. Is that good enough OR am I being ripped off???

OHH THE DEALERSHIPED QUOTED ME $1069.00 FOR LABOR ONLY!!!

Exactly what connections were made during the install ? There is no navigation wiring harness in the non-nav gs. Did you think you could just replace the headunit with a nav ?

i conected 4 conector 2 in climat control unit and 2 in lower in audio system but there left 1 conector which i haven't, also left 2 conectors in up one of them is blue and one is white, where can i get these wiring harness?

The only place that you can get those wiring harness at...... junk yard or look for someone is parting out their car!! good luck!!

  4. Hey ya'll, I installed a tanabe medallion touring cat back system along with a megan racing b-pipe on my 02 300 about a week ago and I have to tell ya I am impressed with the overall performance. Noticeable change is the increased throttle response and improved acceleration at all speeds. While cruising at 70 mph, my rpms are reduced by about 100. It appears gas mileage will be a little better. Will know more as I drive the car more. Noise level inside is noticeable under acceleration, but neglible when cruising at hwy speed. Anyway, for what its worth and if anyone was considering this upgrade, I would recommend it. See ya.

I don't want to mislead anyone, so I should add I have a SRT intake with ECU installed as well. The three together provide for much improved performance. Thanks.

How much did you spend for those ( three toghether) ? wanna put those on my GS

  5. i have a 2001 gs300 with 70,000 miles on it and i failed my smog check. the smog guy said my emissions are high and my car is now a gross polluter. the check engine light is on and the code tells me the the oxygen sensors are bad, bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1 i replace both sensors with denso sensors from rock auto. after i replace the sensor i drove my car for 100 miles to make sure the check engine didn't come back on and it didn't. then yesterday i took it to get smog, and it fail. when driving back from the smog place the check engine light came on again. can some please help me out why my car's check engine keep saying the oxygen sensors are bad when i replace them. i also had a srt intake with ecu on my car when the check engine light first came on, i now have the stock intake back on. please help. :(

I just wanted to let everybody know what had happened to my car, and what the problem was. I decide to take my car to a local mechanic to find out why the check engine kept telling me my oxygen sensors where bad when i replace them with new ones. It turns out there was nothing wrong with oxygen sensors, some how a rodent, mice or rat had chew and damage the wires at the e.c.m the mechanic replace the damage wires and now my car has passed its smog check. So if anybody gets the codes po130,133 po150,153 and cant pass there smog test check the wires at the e.c.m :)

    thanks for letting us know!

How much did he charge you to replace the wire in the ECM and what color was it?

  7. Hi,

My first suggestion is to go to car - electrician and read the error codes. It will give you clue where to look for, otherwise it can be literally everything: brakes, throttle, acceleration etc.

Once you have error codes search the forum.

    Good luck :)

take it to the lexus dealer near you have them check it out!

  10. I would suggest pulling back the carpet from the side of the transmission tunnel and looking directly under the white evaporator box. This box contains the A/C evaporator which collects condensate. The condensate is supposed to drain out the transparent hose on the passenger side of the box. If the drain is not clogged, a reasonable flow of condensate (water) should been seen dripping under the car with the A/C running, particularly on a hot day.

Sometimes, the joint at the bottom of the heater box will start to leak. The condensate (water) can been seen dripping from the bottom of the box onto the transmission tunnel. If this is the case, the repair is extensive. It requires the entire dashboard to be removed to remove the heater box. The box is split in half and resealed using silicone sealant.

Pictures of how extensive this is can be seen here.

Another indicator which may be helpful is this. If your heater box is not leaking, a small amount of water tends to collect in the bottom. When the car is parked overnight, immediately after starting in the morning with the A/C on Auto mode, you should see a temporary fog on the inside of the windshield which quickly clears. This is most easy to see when the car has been parked after being driven on a hot day with the A/C on.

If your box is leaking, it tends to drain completely. Unfortunately, it drains under the carpet. When you restart the car with a completely dry heater box, little or no fog on the windshield is produced when the car is restarted after being parked overnight.

I noticed this because my windows never fogged and cleared until after I discovered and repaired my leaking heater box. It now occurs every day, like clockwork.

If you don't see and evidence of water dripping from the heater box onto the transmission tunnel, then the source of the water under the carpet is likely from elsewhere.

Thanks for the info! I'll give it a try. I've added my year. Didn't ask for it when I registered. Perhaps model/year in the signup? Thanks again for the tips. Now to get rid of the moldy smell without getting rid of the carpet...

    leak in the evap !!

  11. Just noticed today that when I brake the front left seems to have a noise coming from it...its only noticable when your slowing/stopping around 15mph or under - over that you cant tell. Its pretty hard to hear with the windows UP too.. Any ideas on what it could be, what to check first?

did you get the problem fixed? I have the same problem too! let me know ! Thanks in advance!
