  1. Get a Interstate battery, cant go wrong with them, rated #1.

Just had to replace the original Lexus batter in my 05, sc430. Lexus wanted $175 for a new battery plus $60 to install. Instead I went to Sam's/Walmart and purchased and Energizer, Group 48 battery with the same power specs. for $86 and installed it myself in 10 minutes. The Group 48 is listed as the battery for the 430 and it was a perfect fit. :)

  2. Hi all, I'm new here, so I hope that this works! I didn't realize the tire controversy until the icon blinked and beeped and got the "bad news" to replace all tires! I only have 14,000 miles on the car! It was just serviced! They said my inner tires have run bald, but the thread elsewhere is OK...ouch! So here's my dilemna, besides having no power, do I stay with run flats or go to a non run flat and get a donut spare? If I stay with the run flats do I stay with the factory model, a dunlap tire, SP Sport 5000M 245/40ZR18, (Lex code: 000989) or can I jump ship to the one COSTCO has, a Michelin PS2 245/40R18 (item # 311951). And what's all this talk about thread 1, vs, thread 2, vs. thread 3? The dealership says that they have the thread 1 and COSTCO and others have inferior tires???? what's better, the Dunlop or the Michelin?

You WILL want to replace the run flats. There is no reason to keep them. I replaced my Dunflops with Bridgestone 960 after readings from Tire Rack. Discount Tire replaced all 4 but could not get a good balance. Soon found 3 of the 4 were out of round. I lost all confidence in Bridgestone performance tires and Discount Tire allowed me to switch all 4 to Michelin Pilot AS Plus. No problems since switching to Michelins. I tried to save a few bucks, but soon found out here that you get what you pay for.

  3. I have a 06 SC430 DVD Navigation U20. 464210-0660 Data ver. 05.1 Does anyone know the latest DVD version I can purchase?

    GEN 4 V7.1 is available

I have 09 RX350 with Nav. Can the disk from my o9 be inserted into my 05 SC Nav unit? In the 09 Nav unit it is a small pleasure not to have to hit the I AGREE button every time I start up.

Are you Tony from Hoosier Sprints/Midgets?

    Thanks,

    BBatts

  4. I've moved from the 18" wheels and tires to a 17" wheel set with Goodyear Eagle F1 in a 245/40ZR17 size. These are a much less noisy tire than the Bridgestone Run Flats and moving to a 17" wheel had virtually elimated the wheel damage from poor roads. The wheels I put on the car are a standard 5 spoke Lexus wheel that you can easily find. IMHO the orig. SC430 wheels where really ugly and now the car looks like the roadster that Lexus had in mind before they put those awful wheels on the SC's.

    Why not try a 245 / 45 /17 ? Would they offer a better ride?

    Thanks,

    BB
