  1. Thanks for the pictures and detail steps. That helped a lot.

The following is my SHORT CUT:

I got as far as removing the plastic electrical part and removing the washer.

I was having difficulty removing the rest of the philips screws, when I realised that the protuding magnetic shaft rotates a valve and that the root of the problem was that it was sticking. I could feel resistance to turning it.

So I squirted around it liberally with choke cleaner several times until I could feel it rotate easily and return under its own spring power.

Since the main problem was now fixed I decided to reassemble from that point and save myself the harder work.

6 months have passed without any futher problem. I guess my short cut worked without having to remove the vave body.

    Hello Geoff1,

Just wanted to say thanks to your tips above, i too had difficulty removing the 3 screws; but saw your posting and decided to do the same. my es300 has been running A-OK!!! it's idling a bit high though, but no more stoppings!! much thanks again.

  2. Hello, my gas door won't open. found out that the spring loaded to pop it open is broken. any suggestion on replacing it? TIA

Hello, my gas door won't open. found out that the release tab to pop it open is broken. any suggestion on replacing it? TIA

Could also be the spring which pops the door open when latch is pulled.

Mine was doing exact same thing but it wasn't the release tap which was broken it was the spring. Had a friend "make" me a new new one and has been fine ever since

any suggestion on the replacement of a broken release tab? TIA

  3. What tools do i need to use for oil drain plug?  Thx.

a breaker bar or a socket wrench and a 14mm socket. (I think it was 14).

have a large catch basin ready. You might want to wear a glove.

Thx. for your reply Steviej! Do u have a foto of the plug or tool? I called a couple of auto parts stores, but they kept telling me that the oil drain plug for ES300 is your typical hexed head.

I have a rounded screw with the hex head in the center.

    TIA

  4. Hi,

I bought my 1999 ES300 Coach Edition for almost a year now. Happy w/ all things except for the vibration while waiting for traffic lights. From reading previous threads, the 2 motor/1 tranny mounts should solve this annoying problem.

Anyone knows some place that would charge less than 400.00 for this work?
