  1. I'm importing a 2013 RX350 from the USA into Canada. Canadian regulations state that DRLs must be on when the engine is running, and there must not be any way to shut them off.

Does anyone know how to make the modification that would not allow the DRLs from being turned off?

  2. I replaced my run flats, with BF Goodrich Z rated conventional steel belted. Very big improvement in ride, noise and handling. When i was negotiating for the purchase of the car i got the dealer to include a compact spare. He didn't supply the whole kit, just the spare. I understand you can buy a proper spare from any Acura dealer. They have one model that comes with a compact spare in the trunk. It fits perfectly on the SC430 and costs considerably less.

  3. I'm going to answer my own original question, since i've done a lot of research. I do the following for winter storage:

Give the car a good wash.

    Change the oil.

Put fuel stabilizer in the gas tank and fill the tank.

Add additional air pressure to the tires to the maximum they are rated to hold.

    Vacuum the interior and trunk.

    Check the antifreeze.

    Disconnect the battery.

    Put on the car cover.

In the spring, i uncover the car, re connect the battery and drive away. I do have to reset the compass, radio buttons, and clock. I don't use the seat setting buttons so i don't know about those.

  4. i KNOW THIS IS A TOPIC THAT HAS BEEN COVERED HERE BEFORE, BUT NOT FOR SOME TIME. I AM GETTTING READY TO CHUCK THE RUNFLATS ON MY 05 SC430 AND REPLACE THEM WITH NON RUNFLATS. IT SEEMS MOST PEOPLE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S. STILL TRUE? IS THERE A BETTER REPLACEMENT BALANCING COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE? IS THERE ANYWHERE TO GET A COMPACT SPARE FOR THE CAR WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY THE $700 KIT FROM LEXUS?

Check with an Acura dealer. They use a compact spare in one of the TL models, and it fits the SC430 perfectly

  5. Hi Shelley and Sean

I've been doing a lot of investigation on the compact spare for the SC430. I discovered that the 2004 Acura TL with the Dynamic Package uses the identical compact spare tire and wheel, namely the T145/70R17, as the SC 430. I was at the local Acura dealer and they had the wheel company on the phone and the wheel company confirmed that the wheel bolt pattern is identical for both cars.

The price that i was quoted was $500 (Canadian), as opposed to the $1,000 (Canadian) from the Lexus dealer. Keep in mind that the Lexus price included a floor mat trimmed to fit around the spare, a bolt to hold it in place, and a cover for the spare.

Check it out and let me know if my infomation is correct.

I'm looking for a compact spare for my SC430. So far the best prices have been about $1000. I don't know how they arrive at this rediculous price, but somehow they did. There must be less expensive versions, but i'm having trouble finding them. Let me know if you have better success.

  7. Apparently here in Canada all SC 430's come with run flat tires and no spare. Run flats have a very hard ride compared to conventional tires and i'm planning on switching to conventional tires as soon as these are worn. The dealer told me not to worry, roadside assistance is included for 4 years. Funny, though because Lexus puts a jack in the trunk. The reason i need the doughnut spare is because there is a space allocated for it in the trunk. A full sized tire would take up most of the trunk, and i'd never be able to put the top down. I'm hoping there is another car manufacturer that makes a doughnut spare that will fit.
