  1. I actually did do a search and found the exact info that you gave me, only it was for a 97 es300. I wasnt sure if it was the same for mine. Thanks for the reply but you should have a little more patience.

    Thanks

    Chris

Just chiming in here, chris17house, Toy was just trying to help you out. If you searched and found info on a later model you should have posted it and asked for comparison info. chris17house, Your avitar in no way displays patience, My 2 cents. Didn't mean to highjack the thread.:whistles:

I have all of the patience in the world LoL. Sorry if my avatar doesnt display that, i thought it was funny looking thats all. I didnt mean to come off impatient, i was simply saying that i had already done a search for my car and only found other models. I didnt even think of asking for a comparison, that is a good idea. Thank you for all of your help guys. Im gonna end up taking it to the shop to get it done, i cant reach the last two plugs behind the throttle body.

And i dont think i want to take that apart cause ive never done it before and i dont want to break it.

    Thank you.

  2. Well I was in an accident and an old man with a truck slammed into the rear passenger side panel of my 1991 Lexus ES250, and about a week later my car started doing the folowing.

-I feel a substantial power loss, especially when I go up hills. The more gas throttle i give the car when going up hill, the slower it goes.

    - The engine light has also came back on, and turns on and off at its own discretion.

When I,m in the garage and i rev up the car to about 4000rpm the car spools back down backfires.

I took the car to get a diagnostic reading and the Codes (25,26) came back which indicate a Lean/Rich fuel mixture. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to their car.

I would appreciate any help seeing as how im a college student with little cash.

    Thank you in advance

    Chris

  3. I opened the hood today on my 91 es250, and on top of the block where those bolts are that have the rubber seals (not sure what they are called sorry) there is a maroon colored substance, I guess it looks like rust. it is also on a few of the sides of the block.

I live in michigan so i dont know if it has something to do with the salt on the roads or possibly something leaking. But it appeared within the last 2 weeks.

The substance is thick too, I can scrape it off with my finger.

Has anyone else had this happen.

Tried to take a pic but it doesnt show up.

    Chris

Also i dont know what those bolts on top of the engine with the rubber seals under them are called, but you can tighten them with your hand. I noticed that the outer left seal has oil around it, Can someone give me a little insight on how to properly take care of that?

    Thanks again.

  4. Sk, i have always wanted to ask someone who deals with this in the winter, does Rhino Liner protect from salt? i wouldnt see why not. and it can be applied to the entire underside fo you car for less than $500, granted thas alot fo money, but its relaly a small price to pay to keep your car looking pristine. and their ability to color match is incredible (at least around here).  they can even make it textureless so its never noticed unless you look for it.

whats your opinion on htis? they never used salt on the roads in alaska (where im from) just sand. it was significantly easier on a cars finish.

Don't you think heat would become a factor with the Rhino Lining? Plus the lining would spray all over everything and might plug some holes or cover a sensor, like the sensors on the resonator. How would you take the resonator sensor out of the pipe if its sealed up LOL.

    Just my opinion.

  5. I just saw one of these for the ES250 on ebay. Has anyone ever used this same product, or does anyone have an opinion about it?

Here is a link to the description. I bought this one for my mom for xmas but it hasnt come yet.(Ohh well.)

I wonder if it will hurt the car at all.

    Appreciate your opinions.

    Chris

I only spent $7.50 on it, so i figured why not.

Sorry i must have forgotten to put the link in. Here it is.

  6. Ok let me see if it got this straight

the click is now a clunk?

it is more left than right turns

    same in reverse?

    replaced one cv shaft already?

how far do you have to turn the wheel to make the noise?

how fast or slow does it start and stop

It is in a direct frequnecy to the speed of the wheel?

Did you ever look for a nail in the tire?

No, i meant to say that clicking=clunking. It still makes the same noise that it did before i replaced the broken drivers side halfshaft.

It only makes the noise when turning left. And as soon as you start turning left, the noise starts. No matter how fast you are going. The noise doesnt stop untill i straighten the wheel out, or turn right.

I dont know what you mean by "direct frequency to the speed of the wheel", but the faster the car goes while turning left, the quicker the clunk gets.

    No nail in tire.

    Chris

  7. i asked about the reverse question becuase it has been my experence that when you put it in reverse and u have a bad cv joint it makes a clunking sound and thats how u know they are starting to go

yes, they wil make a noise in revers SOMETIMES. not always, but thats still a good question.

also, on left/right turns at low speeds, you will get a CLUNK. you should be able to feel it in your floorboard.

the inener ones usually are responsible for the ticking noises, whiel the outer ones are usually the culprit behind the clunks. it can work the other way around sometimes though.

I guess i should have said that it "still clunks" instead of clicking. My fault. What im trying to say is that when i turn left at slow speeds i still hear the same noise as i did before i replaced the cv shaft that had a ripped boot.

You're right about feeling it in the floor boards. It gives you an uneasy feeling.

Glad to see you are restoring your es250. I would too if i had the cash or skills.

  8. I havent had to drive the car in reverse enough to notice it clicking, but when there is a tiny, and i mean tiny incline, and i put it in reverse and step on the gas there is a large click noise. I dont know if that has anything to do with it.

The boot was exposed for about a year, i know i should have replaced it sooner but what can i say.

Yeah i posted on this topic before, i should have opened it up again, but i rushed it. sorry for littering.

    no problem, i found it.

you shoudl have reoplaced the hwole shaft. i got mine at orielly's, 129.99 a piece. then minus a $60.00 core exhange per part, the total came out to ~120 for both axles.

I really dont wanna mess with it anymore. that cv shaft was a pain to put in LoL. Do you think something is gonna fall off when im driving now haha. I wanna see some sparks shooting out the back of my car.

  10. I'm not certain that I understand what spring everyone is talking about, but I assume its the interior power door lock switch. If I'm correct about that, its not a big deal to wrap a screw driver with tape (to prevent scratching the panels) and pop out the entire panel with all of the power window switches in it. The switch itself can be unplugged from its wiring harness and the switch removed from the panel. Just order a new switch from Lexus, or take the old switch to a junk yard where they'll allow you to wander and check the wrecks for the parts you want. Many of the Toyota cars use switches from the same parts bin and you should be able to find a replacement pretty easily.

I dont think the wood panel covering the switches comes off like that. i think i need to take the door panel off, but im not sure if a bunch of stuff is gonna fall out of place if i do this.

Yeah i have the replacement part, ebay usually has about 2 or 3 every other week if you look a little.

  11. Well its been a while now and ive finally gotten sick of pressing the spring down on the drivers side control panel to lock my doors haha.

The clamps that the original button is supposed to snap into have just worn away over the years i guess.

Does anyone know a good way to fix the broken plastic clamps?

If not, if i get the replacement part, is this a project that i can get into trouble with?

    Thanks a lot

    Chris

  12. I had a feeling they were off the LS400 but wasnt totally sure, when i bought the center caps from ebay they were listed as LS400 center caps.

    Thats what tipped me off.

I went on autotrader.com and looked up the ES250 i saw a pic of one at a dealer with the chrome wheels too. It really sets the car off. Just ashamed that i live in MI and the winters have made the chrome start to peel.

There is rust on the back passenger side too, and a dent from a guy that hit me on the back part of the front fender on the drivers side.

There are a bunch of paint chips just above the headlights too.

If i had the money i would restore my ES250 and drive it forever. I love it.

Im sure everyone feels the same way.

    Chris

Hey howd you make out with the replacement brake bulbs.

  13. First of all im sorry for littering the ES250/300 forums with this topic.

I was about to post a reply to the power antenna question, i had just typed out all the steps and then i got a norton warning saying that i was being attacked.

I looked at the NIS report and it tracked the attack from that IP saying it was a "DOS attack.

I know it would be near impossible to do anything about it but i just thought i would tell what happened.

    Thanks

    Chris
