  1. first off, if someone has issue with a luxury automobile, they have every right and should voice their concerns - more power to them. Secondly, besides a ticking engine (which Lexus said is normal for the RX) and faulty power antenna my RX has been pretty good. That said, I also had a Chevy Suburban that I sold with over 215k on the clock and it also never had so much as an engine tick or needed more than normal maintenance, so you can't judge quality soley by the name - I think today most makes (perhaps european brands slightly less so) have close to the same long term reliability.

  2. Perhaps, but if I spend over 40k for an SUV, I have certain expectations. One of them is that it does not sound like a diesel dump truck. I have a Suburban with 236k miles on it that has no valve or injector noise (btw, that truck hasn't really had any problems other than a rear latch that needed to be tightened). Also, I don't recall the sound on my RX being loud enough to clearly hear from outside the car when it was new. I baby this thing and right now I'm at 34K miles.... are you telling me this will contiue to get louder?

  3. Does anyone else's RX300 engine have an audible ticking sound when standing infront of the vehicle? I'm trying to determine if this is normal or if there is a vavle or other problem. The engine otherwise seems to be operating normally.

  4. I've got a set of Cooper Discovery tires on my RX and love them. They're quiet, great on the highway, snow and rain. Also they seem to be wearing a lot better than my old Bridgestones and corner a heck of a lot better -- and to top it off they're made in the good ol' USA.
