  1. No problem! Definitely let us know how it goes. <_<

Received the part yesterday, decided to tackle the job today since I'm off work. I can't believe how easy this was with your awesome instructions! It took me all of 40 minutes to complete, and that was with spending 10 minutes searching for a bandaid after not reading your instructions about the screw falling into the dash, then running my hand under the dash trying to find the screw! OUCH! LOL.

Truly fantastic instructions! Once again, these forums have managed to not only save me a pile of $$, but also gave me a sense of accomplishment by repairing this on my own! Oh and not to mention my wife now thinks I'm a stud! LOL

Thanks again! I really appreciate all you're help! Guys like you make these forums awesome!

    Rick

  2. This may all sound confusing, but it's not, just a lot of words! Once you get the new cluster if you get lost i can help clear things up a bit. <_<

    Good luck!

Wow..... those are some amazing instructions! Heck, I don't feel like it's so out of reach now! I'm going to go ahead and order that cluster that you found for me on ebay. Hopefully tackle the job next week sometime. I'm actually looking forward to digging into it! LOL.....

Thanks for all the help!! I really appreciate it! I'll let you know how it turns out, or if I run into any issues during the install!!

  3. Since your RX300 is a 1999, you'll need to make sure the replacement is from either a '99 or '00. The 01-03 clusters may appear the same, but they are not...

Here's one for $49 plus $15 for shipping, probably the cheapest you'll find on eBay...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-00-LEXUS-RX300-SPEEDOMETER-CLUSTER-THRU-6-00-MPH-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem35b2c4f36cQQitemZ230632518508QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Once you get it, you can switch out the rear circuit board piece (i can show you how, it's VERY simple) so that you'll have your original mileage. <_< Then you'll be all set!

This is the first time i've heard of the CCFL going out in the Rx300 clusters, so i wouldn't worry that another used cluster might have the same problem...

Wow, that's awesome! Sure beats what I was expecting to pay if I took it to the dealer! Next question is, how easy is it to swap out the old one with the new one?? I'm not all that mechanically inclined. I'm pretty good at doing basic stuff, but I'm always a little freaked out trying something I've never done before. Does the dash have to come apart to do this repair??

Thanks for all the info.... Rick

  4. Do you mean the right side of the gauge cluster (with the tachometer, speedometer, fuel and temp meters)? Can you take a picture?

I'll be able to tell you what you need to do. <_<

Here is a picture. It is the whole left side of the cluster. Hopefully the picture shows it well enough for you, I took it in the daylight. If not, I can take another one at night if that would show it better.

    Thanks

  5. Have a 99 RX300 and last week the right half of the dash lights went out for me. Prior to this, for about 2 days I was smelling an electrical smell when I was driving. My wife told me they went out a few days prior, but came back on.

Anyone have this problem? Any ideas on a fix?

BTW, it's the entire right side of the instrument panel.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rick

  6. I'm planning to buy a tent trailer but am concerned about towing it with my 2001 rx300. what little information I can find is negative for using this model to tow anything but the car's ratings seem to say i could pull a reasonably sized trailer. the trailers I'm considering have UVW's from 1,900 to 2,600 lbs. the rx300's curb weight (awd) is apparently 3,900lbs and the GVWR is 4,950lbs. can someone advise, please? thank you.

I have a 99 with approx 110k miles on it. Has the factory tow package. I pull my trailer loaded with 2 full sized motorcycles without any problem. Have made round trips from Fl to Canada in the middle of the summer heat without a problem at all. Total weight is probably around 3000lbs. Gas mileage sucks as you can imagine. Averaged around 11-12 mpg doing 60-65mph.

  7. I have an 03 ES300 and recently have been experiencing some intermittent A/C problems.

The A/C will stop blowing cold air, when I look at the instrument panel, the a/c button is blinking. If I touch the "auto" or "a/c" button, it seems to reset and begin to work again. The fix can last anywhere from a couple of minutes up to my entire ride. Doesn't seem to matter the temp outside or how long the a/c unit has been running.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
