  1. Im thinking its stuff like boost controllers, stability controllers etc. I could be wrong though. Most people get high output alternators because of a sound system. Other than that you should be fine on a stock rated alternator unless your running tons and tons of electronics.

  2. I want to seafoam my 96 es. Should I be worried? I never used the stuff before and from the pics in the first post, looks like the stuff works. Only looking to do one treatment. My dad drives the es and he doesnt take care of the car. The intake is disgustingly dirty and I thought that it would be good to give it a nice clean up eh? I already dumped a bottle of gumout in the gas tank (had bottles of it laying around). Waited for three more fill ups and dumped in a bottle of Redline brand cleaner in the tank. Seems to be a bit better but I want to give it a real good clean up and not spend too much money.

  3. The outside temp sensor seems to be broken on my 96 es. It just shows -22 degrees. Does anyone know where the sensor is located it and how much it runs for? I can probably pick it up from a junk yard or from the dealer if I have to.

    Thanks

Generally it's mounted behind/on the front bumper in front of the A/C condensor.

-22F indicates a complete open which is more likely a broken connection or wiring.

Just went to go and check it out. I think I found it because I unplugged it from the harness and saw that the two pins inside were rusted. One was still intact in the sensor and the other one was broken and stuck inside the harness. I tried to ghetto wire it and cut off the harness and plug it in straight but it didn't work. Is sensor bad or is there something else wrong?

  4. my dad said if i get no tickets or accidents he will get me car after i graduate high school. i currently drive his old 96 es300. i was considering either a Subaru WRX orLexus IS300. i am lookin torward WRX cus i live northeast and rwd isnt good round here. but i am also lookin for performance and the wrx is also better and cheaper. well wat do u guys think?

  5. my family has had a total of 3 lexus vehicles. we currently have 2. they were 92,94,96 es300s. they were all in crashes and were then rebuilt. we bought them and no porblem wat so ever. we sold one to get another one from the same guy. we actually got money. we went from a 92 es300 with 140k to 94 es300 with almost 100k. we had gotten $200 back. now that is a deal.

  6. Anyhoo, all I needed was my dome light bulb to be replaced in my 1994 ES300. I drove to the dealer and the first thing that blew me away was that they have a "free" valet service. Yea....

If that wasn't enough, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed help. The conversation lasted about an hour with the desk man / tech guy. Basically, a technician was called to the desk and he came in about thirty seconds! Yea.... Here's the thing, he already had the replacement bulb in his hand and my car parked out front so I am able to watch the whole thing and learn so next time I can do it myself! Yea..... Not only did he install the replacement bulb light, but he also adjusted my tire pressure, washed / waxed my car, and shampoo the interior. Keep in mind that all of this was, what did they call it,....... COMPLIMENTARY In other words, the greatest word in the English language....FREE I had a great experience there and I did not know such a place existed!? Does anyone else have a comment?

that is nothing. i went to Bob Rohrman's Lexus in Palatine, IL to get another transponder key for my 96 es300 and the service was great. as soon as i got out of my car a man came over and asked me if i need help. but that is just the beginning. i went in and the prices were sooo cheap. a brand new transponder key for only $150 from the dealer. i even decided to get wheel locks as i didnt have any and they were only $20. after dat they tried to get it to work on my car but they couldnt get it. they told me that i would have to come in again in da morning to let the specailist see it but the problem was that i have school. i was dissapointed but they gave me a loaner. yes thats right a loaner at no charge. it was a rx330. boy that car was awesum. the next day i went back and they had my car ready to go. when i sat i relized some things were different. before i took it in i had tire marks on the back seat from the old owner. he was probably transporting wheels and they screwed up the seats. it tired to get it off but it just woulnt come off. i ask the dealer how much it would cost to get them off when i bought the car and it was $200. when i got in the marks were almost invisible but u could still see them a little but they did it for free. i also saw that they had waxed my car and vacuumed it. and while i was there the first time, they gave me pop, cookies, and a slice of cake. now is that awesum or wat.

  7. i have a car phone in my 96 es. it is an aftermarket that the previous owner had put in. the phone is locked so i cant unlock it to progrma it for my number. it is an audiovox phone and looks old. i cant find a serial or model number so can u guys help me out. if it doesnt work o well. it still makes my car look a lot cooler. but if it does work than that would be great.

  8. it is not that i actually had a problem with the oem cd changer. it worked fine on my 94es but when i bought my 96 it didnt have a changer. it got stolen from the previous owner. i bought a USED one that stopped working after 2 weeks. i had spent like $180. so dat is y i dont want a used changer unless it has a warranty.
