  1. Hey All,

The Ac blower motor only runs at low speed on my 98 LS 400.

Any ideas of what needs to be replaced??

I'm aware that the fan will run at High only when the resistor goes bad.

Did some searching here, and found some examples however people did not reply back to the threads to say that the suggested repair worked or not.

Really would like to get this fixed any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    David

  3. I have 93 LS400 and battery on the key I think has gotten weak. I may need to replace them. Does anyone have any tips on replacing the battery?

If anyone has done it, where can I buy the batery? Can I get them from Walgreens? What is the battery number? Is it going to be difficult taking the battery out? Any information would be appreciated.

  4. You could just jumper the sensor wires together at the brakes. This would, of course disable the warning system, and so I don't recommend it, but it would get rid of the warning. The new sensors are about $60, if you decide to replace it. By the way, if you replace the sensor, some people are cable-tying the sensor up away from the brakes to avoid having to replace them in the future, but again, you lose the warning system.

Are you sure the jumping would shut off the light? I try this and it did not work. What method did you use to jump? Thanks in advance for your reply.

  5. I own a 1995 lexus ls 400

my tranny jerks when I'm driving 45mph and release the gas pedal like if the tranny mount was bad or the tranny was going out. but it shifts fine its just when I release the gas pedal. If anyone has any info I will appreciate it.

I do not know how many miles you have on the car or if you found a solution.

I had similer experience with my Camry. If the car finally died, you might want to look into ignition coil. My Camry had 150K at the time the coil was out.

  6. I have not had this problem but it sure sounds like an intermittent power steering pump problem.

Have you checked the fluid level and does the PS pump leak?

Fluid level is full and there is not a trace of leak around the pump. I've looked at the bottom part of the pump too.

  7. how do you reset the brake pad warning light

Brake pad warning light is only available from 93 model and on. This is not something that can reset. There is a pair of ceramic warning device that is installed on your brake. This device must be replaced. Each cost I think about $50 from dealer.

  8. I'm right there with you. I haven't found info elsewhere yet, i started here. Some days I don't get up past 30 mph for several blocks and have no idea how fast I'm going. The speedometer seems to come back between 30-40mph. Sometimes the tach is dead too. Or only the tach is dead and the speedometer works. I'm not sure why it annoys me so much, but I almost feel sorry for the car, it looks dead with the needles like that. Every time I want to show someone, it works again. My mechanic already warned me that it will be in the dash.

    I love my car, I love my car, I love my car . . . . .

It is a common problem. I have a same promblem and found a guy who will fix the problem if you take the dashboard apart and ship it to him. If you haven't found the solution, write me an e-mail and I will forward his e-mail address to you.

  9. hello i just bought a 91 ls400 the other day and the power steering pump is roaring when i drove her home she was fine but now the the trac-off light stays on as well with the check engine light will the pump make these lights come on? am getting ready now to change the pump. new to the site glad i found it anyone know about this?

I would comment on the PS roaring. There is a something called pulley that your main belt turns. It is a bearing that goes out. When it does, I am not sure exactly what you meant by roaring sound, but it sound like your steering pump has gone out. My mechanic took a stethoscope and put it on the pulley then on the steering module to determine the sound was coming from the pulley. I am not sure what I had paid for the pulley replacement but replacing that eliminated the PS roaring sound. I had thought the sound was coming from PS. You should check this out before trying to replace the PS module.

Other problem you've mentioned, I do not think are related problems.

  10. I have 93 LS with about 110K miles on it. I've had this problem for sometime but just living with the problem. If anyone had similar experience that wouldn't mind shairing.

The steering vibrates when trying to turn the steering. It does not happen all the time only when outside temperture is hot and engine is hot. Even with the hot engine, it does not happen all the time. Only when you are putting a stress on the steering like trying to turn steering wheel when car is not in motion. I hope this describes the symtoms and I also hope someone has same experience and found a source of problem. <_< <_<

  11. How many miles on the car?

Also you should aask your uncle the last time the battery is replaced.

    Define "Won't State" better.

Is it when you turn the key, it click, click, click, ... or just "click"?

So is the car just sitting because you cannot start or it sometiems starts? If it is just sitting, how long has it been just sitting?

Hey I just got a gift from my uncle, a "nice" 1992 Lexus LS 400

haha imagine the gas mileage on that :-P

Well The problem with this fine thing, is that IT WON'T START.

I charged the batter up at autozone, and I brought it back and put in inside and tried to start it.

It turns on and everything else works when I get to the ACC: position on the ignition.

When I try to start, everything shuts off and then turns back on but the car doesn't start.

I hear the clicking sound of it trying to start, I have checked the fluid levels of the car and everything is up to date.

I thought the battery was bad, but it isn't.

I called my uncle and asked him what's going on since he use to drive the lexus and he likes working on cars as well.

He told me that the car should start up fine because he was driving it just a week ago.

I was thinking it may be the battery terminals on the battery cables of the lexus that might be bad because on the positive side part of the terminal clamp broke off towards the edge of it.

I am thinking it might be that since part of the positive side terminal broke off, the starter might not be getting as much amps it needs to start the massive engine.

So I am thinking about buying a new terminal for it, but I want to hear other's opinions before i go out and end up wasting money.

But I am not sure if that is what the problem is.

Could anyone help me or can relate to this problem.

    All help is accepted

    thanks.

  12. Thank you very much. I have not had a chance to look at this problem in detail but coming from a person who went through it, I already have a good feeling about the problem resolution. You do not know how apprecitive I am about you shairing the information. I will be more then willing to shair my experience about my LS400. cmk033@yahoo.com

Classic trunk hinge wire harness symptoms.

    http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=50109

"Open the trunk. On the left side you will see a wire harness on the left hinge. After repeated openings and closings the wires inside that harness become fatigued and frayed. Then they start shorting out. Then sputtering, stalling, and everything you describe. This is a design flaw and lexus knows it.

If this describes your problem, then remove the plastic bracket on the left hinge, strip down the harness, untwist all the wires, re-connect, then re-tape.

Make sure to leave off the hinge bracket that ensures tension on the harness. Just let the whole mess swing free and loose.

In my case, problem solved, and no spending thousands of dollars in diagnostics, parts, and tech snafus.

Best of all, it's free. Takes about 30 minutes."

  13. I have 93 LS400 with about 115K miles on the car. Since the spring of this year, I've been having car die problem when brake is applied (mostly in engine cold condition although it did happened inconsistantly). When this happens, I turn my ignition and nothing. Car doesn't even turn over as if battery is completely dead. I have to pull over and let it sit for a while (10 minute?) then the car comes back to normal. At first, I suspected the battery cable connection (positive or negative). But more and more I begin to suspect it is some type of relay disconnection. Anyone with a similar experience of success?

Also, I am not sure if this is related but my dashboard instrument is not working sporadically. Specifically my RPM meter is not working in cold start condition and then after 10 minutes of driving, it starts to work. Sometimes the speedometer is like that too but not as often. I do not have a problem with dashboard light although the bar to indicate the speed is half dark.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
