I know how to change front brake pads. I just wanted to know if you do anything different when changing the rear brake pads (such as emergency brake, etc.)? I have a 1996 GS 300. Thanks!
Your car has 4 wheel disc brakes, so if you can change the front, you can change the back. Its exactly the same procedure. You don't have to worry about the emergency brake.

Thanks Tbone! Sounds like that would do it.
Did you also use the C clamp to push out the side that holds the outer pad?

Not sure what you mean by that question. There's only one set of pistons per caliper.

I did my brakes last month. I used a large C-clamp and a piece of metal across the pistons to squeeze them back into the caliper. Worked like a charm. Just make sure your brake fluid level isn't too high or it'll spill out of the master cylinder when you tighten the clamp. That'll give you plenty of clearance.

My power antenna cable snapped, so I bought one of those power antenna masts on EBAY for $39.99. Worked like a charm.
Unfortunately, because my cable snapped I had to take the whole motor housing apart to remove the remaining length of cable. Like a jackass, I put the new cable in without making sure the nut on the outside was on top of the new mast, so I ended up having to take the motor apart twice. DOH! Even taking the motor apart twice it only took about an hour.
For anybody needing to make this repair, I highly recommend that part.

I have '95 GS300 with 84K original miles on it and it runs great. The only out of the ordinary problem I had was a bad A/C compressor. All other service has been routine maintenance. I recently had the timing belt/tensioner/water pump/seals service done, but I can't complain one bit about how this car has performed over the 5 years I have owned it. In that time, I've spent less than $3000 in service for everything. I can easily say that this car has been the most reliable car I have ever owned (Thunderbird, Taurus, Accord, for starters). I would definitely give you the green light to purchase a 1st gen GS. But, as stated, do your due dilligence. You should be able to find a nice '93-'97 in that price range, just make sure it has been taken care of.
