You are stuck with the same graphics even though you upgrade the nav disc. The 2006 GS was the only year they used the gen4 system, which has a lower resolution screen and is unable of producing the crisp graphics on the gen5 systems.

I see. I have not searched the forum but do I dare ask if you can upgrade to gen 5?

I had a loaner 09 ES and noticed that the resolution of the nav screen was better than in my 06 GS running the original map software. Is there any truth to this or would upgrading to the current nav software offer the better graphics?

How long does the battery last when you change the setting so the phone stays on? Have you had luck importing your contacts too?
