Safety too....compare the Lexus to the Mercury in crash ratings and standard safety features. Can't put a price on that if you ask me.
Seems like the Mercury had a 3 star driver (rest was 5 star) and the Lexus has 5 star all the way.

90 views and only 2 votes! lol. I had the guy make the "h". I will let you know how it turns out.

I knew if I looked long enough I would find it. It is quick and basic, but it gives you the idea.

Good points NeoN and jrober!

I can't seem to find it, but there is a video on youtube that shows it. It wasn't very difficult looking. I thought it was on the Coastaletech.com, but I couldn't find it there. Sorry.

Yeah, the Highlander is almost $47k fully loaded, and this dealer wasn't negotiating on them due to demand. A coworker of mine just bought a loaded RX400h and paid about that after negotiation...
Mine was a 2WD w/ nav and it stickered for $49K and we got it for $46K. I found what you said, Highlander was stickering $47K loaded as we would like albeit with AWD, but the wheel upgrade worried me for tire replacement cost (19"). Also, little things like only the driver window had one-touch up and down while the Lexus has all 4 windows one-touch. Just little things here and there.
Believe me I wanted a Highlander to be it simply because a Toyota dealer is just about 10 miles away while our Lexus is about 25 miles away. For maintence that was important to me, but in the end I am very pleased with the RX400H.

The lack availability of the highlander hybrid a month ago is what pointed me towards the RX400H, but I was interested in at least looking at the Highlander had it been available to even look at. Also, I figured I wouldn't be able to get as good a deal since the demand was so high.
I think there is a post somewhere about the differences between the two.

Here is a step by step to remove the screen.

Awesome! Thank you very much! I have that album bookmarked!
I have an 08 and will get my first oil change for free, but after that I am all about doing it myself with a better filter and synthetic oil!

I went to the dealership today for my 1K checkup and asked if there is anyway service could overide the Nav and they told me nope. So if it can be done they aren't doing it upon request.

Thanks for the post to the DIY. That was a big help in deciding on whether to buy or not!

Isn't that crazy? How much air actually makes that much of a difference?

This one doesn't interest me, but I like the thread if it can produce some overrides on the Nav system!

Agreed on the switching from one iphone to another in the RX.

I didn't have so much trouble with mine, but when I wanted to add my wife's as a second phone it was a pain. I finally did it and I am not sure how. I couldn't figure out how to move my contacts either. I guess maybe a razr or something can do that function, but I couldn't get the iPhone to transfer the data.

I came home with my '08 today from a dealer about 200 miles away and it too pulled some to the right and it had 42 miles on it when I got it. I will probably take it to my local dealer for a check.

I am officially part of the club! Came home today with our new RX400H.

Wow, what a great forum and replies. I greatly appreciate the input. It is VERY helpful.

Thank you for the replies! I've been watching ebay too. I didn't know you could buy an extended warranty outside the dealer (if I understood the post correctly). I have found a really nice '06 with just about everything except RES from an individual and I am leaning towards it over the brand new '08.
There seem to be quite a lot of nice used ones. :)

I am planning on buying an RX400H as soon as my '03 Sequoia sells (just listed last week). If I can get $2000 more selling it on my own I will.
But my question is that 2006's are coming off of lease and Lexus is offering 3 year/ 100K warranty on all Certified Used Lexus's.
I can get an 08 2wd, Nav, & Preffered + pkg for $46.5K (Sticker is $49K). Or do I buy basically the same thing in an '06, but with AWD and 24K miles on it for $36K???
The only differences I have found have been cosmetic except for the Nav screen resolution. My wife is pushing for New, but I am still trying to accept that a new one is worth $10K more. I am finding used '06's for $36-$38K with Nav and between 15K-30K miles.
Any thoughts or help as to which direction is make more sense all things considered?

I got the basic lockpick 3 that unlocks the navigation feature on my 2008 RX400h and it works like a champ. Install took less than 5 minutes. I really want to utilize the functionality of the ulitmate lockpick 3 that would allow me to use on screen phone dialing while driving, but according to the coastaltech website, I am not sure if my vheicle (Mark Levinson with 6 disc CD/DVD changer) supports this.
Does anyone have any info concerning the success or failure of using the ultimate lockpick 3 with an 08 RX 400h that has the same stereo components as described?
Thanks
P.S.
If anyone needs install help, let me know. I have all but mastered disassembly of my RX's interior :)
5 Minutes?!?!? Is there a pdf or something you can post? Or pics?

Keep us informed! I would hope you could get $35-$37K at Lexus in trade and $38-$40K selling on your own. A dealer other than Lexus I would expect probably $31-33K :( . I also have an '08 400h, (but 2wd) and premium pkg and love the car, but not the payment (starting to think it is more car than I need), so I am curious as to what you get for yours.
By the way, my local dealer has this GS 450h Hybrid that may or may not interest you:
