no LS400 pre 97 had an actual engine immobilizer from the factory.
most likely, either the battery and/or the alternator is dead. the ALARM may have killed the motor since it was tripped but based on my experiences with the old '95 i had i doubt it.
check ur fuses.
I have a 1998 GS400 and I have the same problem as the original poster. I can't find a way to deactivate the inmobilizer. The altenator is working. The battery is brand new. And all the fuses and relays are working ok.
I actually managed to start the car a couple of times (reight after I disconnected and reconnected the battery), but overall the car wont start.
Is there a key combination insert/remove combination or a pedal press/depress combination that may disable the inmobilizer?

Just acquired a GS400 1998 Model. It has neo been put into use. However, I experienced a problem recently when I tried to start the car as the alarm sounded and head lamp flashes. I had to remove the battery terminal as all effort to deactivate the alarm failed using the the remote control.
Could any one out there profer a solution as I am new to this and the manual is not total helpful.
