Well I have a bit of a dilemma. I bought two bi-xenon E46 projectors not too long ago on eBay. Then I bid on some TL bi-xenon projectors and won them too. I also bought some projectors that I was gonna have put in the highbeam because it was 9005 bulb projectors (I was gonna put a plug-n-play HID kit). So should I put the two bi-xenon projectors in the headlights? Should I sell the E46 projectors and put the TL and 9005 projectors in? I figure it makes more sense to just have on bi-xenon projector and just modify the other projector to put out more light. I know it would be "cool" to put both bi-xenon projectors but what would be the logical thing to do?

Have them replace it with a 4.3L V8 or the new 4.6L V8

hey all,
it looks like i've been having a string of bad luck. my driver's side quarter panel and bumper got hit at the beginning of august and that's going to cost me about $1,500 to fix. and tonight as i was about to go out, i saw that there was a long scratch starting from the rear driver side quarter panel and ending at the front fender.
the scratch is pretty deep it looks. the layer of silver paint is gone and i see what i believe is the white primer. i am livid! what kind of person would go around keying people's cars. so, this is what i want to ask, can that long scratch be touched up or would i have to repaint every panel (quarter, two driver side doors and fender) that was scratched or would i be able to have it touched up. and if i do have it touched up will i still be able to see where the scratch was and where the touch up paint was applied to?
if anyone has had any experience with touching up scratches i would greatly appreciate the input.
thanks.
It depends on how deep the scratch is but I think you might have to repaint all the panels if it was down to the primer. I'm no expert so don't quote me but one time I went out to my car it had a few deep scratches on the front passenger door and when I went to see what could be done to remedy it they told me they would have to paint the whole door.

Damn it's only making that little bit of hp with an srt that claims to add 30hp. I can't even imagine the little bit of hp my 2001 GS3 makes.

I got a kit from ultrabrightlights.com. I've had the kit since sept. and no problems to date. Like #1gs said you can chrome your grille yourself for cheap. It is a great and inexpensive mod. You can also check sites like luxurymods.com or l-tunedparts.com for aftermarket grilles.
-
You can get a new set from l-tunedparts.com for like $189. Or you can try checking the seller forums on here and Club Lexus.
-
Good because I've seen them on a GS and they look bad. They look nice on an ES though but that's a different story.
-
I'm just taking a guess as well because in my 2001 GS3 the most I've put in it at the pump was like 18 gallons and it supposedly has a 19.8 gallon tank. I would assume that the rest is probably reserve fuel.
-
You could use them as winter wheels to keep the chrome clean.
Or she could just have the original wheels chromed.
-
I doubt that you would be able to put them on your car because I believe the lug pattern is different unless it has two sets of lug holes. Or maybe you can have the holes drilled.
-
Thanks man, do you have a website for the Philips HIDs, or the McCulloch?
I'm not sure where you can get the Philips but the McCulloch I bought from ebay from ebay member ultrabrightlightz. The guy also has a website, I think it's ultrabrightlights.com.

Well it depends on how satisfied you are with the exhaust. If you like it, keep it and get your refund. If not wait until you can get the other one.

With regards to the rims, the bigger the you go the harsher the ride. I have 20's on my car and you do feel a difference but it's not horrible it's just not gonna feel like it would with the stock wheels and tires. But obviously the trade off is a better appearance and better handling. I've heard good things about the Eclipse navigation systems, I plan to get one myself. Most people recommend the Philips HID's. I have McCulloch, even though people on this forum don't recommend them, I have had them trouble free for seven months now. Only one time did I turn on my lights and one of the bulbs didn't turn on. You should also consider upgrading the sound system. I think 6th Ave electronics is running a deal on an Alpine amp and 2 10" JL Audio subs for like $348. I have an Alpine amp powering 2 10" Alpine type-e subs and they rock. I had Infinity Reference subs in there but they sounded horrible. Hope this helps

is this a good deal....maybe getting for wifey.
http://certified-infiniti-pre-owned.ebizau...s/GS-430/Sedan/
Not a bad deal. All depends on the overall condition and history. I would want to know as much about the history as possible. Lexus dealer will be able to tell you about anything that has been done at a Lexus dealer and CarFax may have soem additional info. The selling dealer should be happy to provide the CarFax info. Do a thorough inspection of the underside of the car, the dealer cleans up the interior and the engine compartment, but the underside will be untouched. Might indicate how the previous owner took carfe of the car. Also, buy an extended warranty. Lexus repairs are VERY expensive if you are out of warranty.
Good luck.
He won't need a warranty if it's a certified pre-owned. But I don't think it's a Lexus dealership. You're best bet is to buy from a Lexus dealership. That way you can get a certified pre-owned vehicle. It will cost you more but it will be worth it. You get lower interest rates too if you plan on financing.

If anyhing, the Tanabe will be louder than the Borla! I have read this statement all over the internet. I was actually a little disappointed initially with the Borlas because of the low, quite tone. Under WOT I only really hear the intake and engine. I heard it takes a couple of weeks/months for the exhaust to fully break in; it is supposed to get a little louder and deeper I think I will like it even more then.

I was listening to some exhausts on this website and I really like the sound of the RMM exhaust system. Here's the link http://videos.streetfire.net/category/Lexu...C86D9F4365F.htm

lol yeah, waiting for a reply for one of my posts too =) as far as adding 2 subs and an amp, i've been wanting to get it in mine too and possibly changing the one lone sub in the back... i hear you have to take out the backseat though to properly uninstall it and such, seems like too much work for me, even though i've got tons of time on my hands, tell me how it goes though if you decide on upgading?
Gentlemen, The main reason why you aren't getting any responses to your topic is that not many lex owners here destroy there OEM systems. You will always run across some trouble with matching any amp/speakers/subs etc... to the stock system, Either replace the entire system and run it independant or expect trouble sometime/somewhere down the line. I could go on forever. Some members say all is good with there replacement components but ????? Good Luck
I'm actually having the stuff installed on my car tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. The guy at the shop was in love with my car. He said the reason he started working there was so he can get that car. But he didn't mention anything about having problems with aftermarket and stock stuff so I'll see.

The con is it will seriously lower the value of the car.
The other con is a good paint job costs ~ $5,000.
I have pursued quotes on my gs in the past and $3k-$5k is in line, I am getting to the point where the black is getting to be a PITA and was looking at silver or ??? Love the car, Just want to look @ different colors with the black interior which I wouldn't want to give up unless I would go with coach/Tan.
Yea, $3k-$5k is about what you would pay for a good job. Mine is also black on black but I wouldn't recommend it. It looks nice when the car is clean, But when it's dirty, every spot shows. Although the color I want to paint it isn't too far from black but it's my fav color so...But my interior is black so I want to paint the car dark blue, I think that's a hot combination. But I definitely would advise against the black exterior.

I have 20's on my car and I think they just look awesome. Of course you're trading off ride quality for the look, but to be honest the ride isn't that harsh except for when you hit a big bump or pothole. It all depends on your situation, where you live and your intentions for getting the wheels. I went with 20" chromes because I'm not a street racer. I like to ride slow and pimp my car. I'm not gonna lie I'm adding some power and like to punch it now and then but it's a LUXURY/sports sedan.

I have a 2000 GS 400; about 2 weeks ago I converted my K & N FIPK intake into cold air down into my wheelwell. Just last Saturday I put my Borlas on, I really like them a lot. I was a little hesitant at first just like you because... an American exhaust on a Japanese luxury car??? But I tell you, it is a sweet exhaust and it sounds great. The look is quite a bit larger than the 98' to 00' GS stock exhaust outlets and is only a little larger than the 01' and up GS models. I feel a little more power and better highway passing.
Nick
I like the look of the Borla exhaust but I am considering the Tanabe Super Hyper Medalion from luxurymods.com for $695 shippped.

Alright thanx dc. What kind of better performance should I expect? Better throttle response, better acceleration, etc.?

I finally installed my Injen intake. The intake has a killer sound. It sounds like the car has a lot of power now, but I'm not sure the car is actually making more power. Is there a break-in period in order to feel a difference in the car or is the intake purely for sound? I would say the intake added maybe a few more horses but nothing major.
Reset the ecu. It sounds like there is more power because the stock intake is very well baffled to supress noise. You might gain at WOT.
How do I reset the ECU? Do I just simply disconnect the battery or take out the ECU fuse? Or is there another way to reset it?
-
Unless you car is force inducted, I don't think any exhaust system would let loose 20-25 horses. Maybe if you got an intake system, and a full exhaust from the header, back.... and some tuning, you will reach that number. I had some cheap universal straight-thru mufflers donated to me, and had custom piping done from the cat, back. It's not loud at all. Granted it is louder than stock, but not a !Removed!-can.
I added an Injen intake now I just want to see what would be a good exhaust to put on my car that's gonna give me a decent amount of power without being too loud, but I want something louder stock for that power feel.

Maybe you can compress the file and put it onto your hard drive.
